Unusual picture

[edit]

The picture in the article shows an extremely rare architectural style - there must be virtually no one story terrace houses with dormer windows apart from those photographed. Could not a more typical house-with-dormer-windows be illustrated? 80.2.204.80 (talk) 14:44, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, so have replaced it with an existing photo on Commons showing dormers in relation to the greater facade. -- Trevj (talk) 08:40, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

McMansions

[edit]

This has got to be POV.... but regardless, why would you build a false dormer? An explanation would be valued. Leushenko (talk) 01:30, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Readers of this article want to know...

[edit]

...is it pronounced "dome-er" or "door-mer". 67.246.33.203 (talk) 15:53, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just moved this phrase

[edit]

here, cut out from the article:

" (also known as an "eyelid" dormer)"

It was in the "shed dormer" section. The two terms are not interchangeable. I will look for a definition of "eyelid dormer" and reintroduce the term in the article. Soon. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 23:51, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merger Proposal

[edit]

Lucarne, which is really a subset of a dormer, should be included in this article. It does not merit a separate entry, which has almost no content anyway. Bangabandhu (talk) 17:41, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, I have merged the articles. MonmouthMan (talk) 00:49, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Half-dormer

[edit]

Over 100 articles use the term "half-dormer". I came here to find out what it means, but the term is not mentioned. -- John of Reading (talk) 17:32, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
