Domenikon Village Website
[edit]Is the Domenikon Village Website really a reliable third-party source independent of the subject? If it happened in the village, how could anyone there be independent of the subject in any respect? Regards, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 12:10, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Both Vima and the Village Website use the official complaints sent by the Hellenic Gendarmerie Captain as sources. Moreover the Village Website contains the complaint texts in full.--Catlemur (talk) 12:16, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- So, they are first-hand complaints? Not the court transcripts of the cases? Or the judgements? Cheers, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 12:45, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- The sources we got are the official complaints and comments made by the local population that survived the massacre (women). The above sources created the basis for a reparations lawsuit as well the official recognition of the event as a massacre by the Greek State.--Catlemur (talk) 12:59, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- So, if there was a reparations lawsuit and a recognition of the massacre by the state, they would be better sources than the local accounts? Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 13:41, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Perhaps better sources exist, yet they are not in my possession. There was also an Italian investigation into the matter in the 90's, the sources provide no details of the outcome.--Catlemur (talk) 13:52, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- OK. Can you explain why the first-hand accounts and reports should be considered WP:RS? Thanks, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 02:56, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

- Because the Vima article (Vima is one of the largest newspapers in Greece) and the official recognition of the massacre by the Greek State were based on the accounts and reports.--Catlemur (talk) 08:42, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
- That seems derivative to me. I'd say the Vima article is RS, but not the village website. Regards, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 22:24, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
- G'day, I'm not sure if this has been resolved, but if not perhaps a question could be posed here: Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard? The good people over there might be able to help reach a conclusion. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 06:56, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
