Is the translation incorrect/mangled or is there a pun that was lost in translation? The current one named in the article doesn't make a lot of sense.

I'd say, "etwas mit etwas anfangen können" is not so easy to translate. "If you only like one skin colour" is clearly correct, the second part could maybe also translate to "...you can't work with more than 30 varieties/types anyway" or "...you can't manage/handle more than 30 varieties/types anyway".
