Contested deletion

This page should not be speedily deleted because... this article is about an important person and a group of people that are related to him. Even though there was a similar article deleted in 2017, this one is likely more informative since it has been over a year since, and the person the article is about has grown his career drastically. I frankly see no need to delete the article, as it is about a person who is very popular. If it is a lack of references, I can get more, but there is no need to delete the page. --VoltronUniverse (talk) 13:23, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Marriage

The marriage was obviously a joke. I see no reason keeping it on the sheet with his basic information. Perhaps it would be better if it was just in the Personal Life section and it was clarified that the marriage was a joke — Preceding unsigned comment added by Γιαννης Παπαδογκονας (talkcontribs) 00:21, 19 December 2019 (UTC)

Change needs to be made

The subscriber count in the first paragraph could use an update

By March 2020, Dobrik's first channel has over 16 million subscribers. The number in the article is from December 2019. Zolatying (talk) 21:19, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

At the end of his career description, it’s written that he made his TikTok account in August 2015. TikTok was announced and released in 2016. Remove the statement where it says he made his account 2015. 2A02:AB88:24B9:2B80:ECAF:B377:3496:3421 (talk) 23:11, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

Nationality description

I think that describing Dobrik as a "Slovak Youtuber" is misleading, because he has lived in America since he was six and his work targets American audiences. Hemiauchenia (talk) 04:39, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

@Hemiauchenia: He's not American but Slovak. He actually is an undocumented immigrant and he had been vocal and straightforward about it. --Deansfa (talk) 15:04, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
So what do you suggest? "Illegal immigrant of Slovak origin" ? Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 16:48, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
What?? I suggest absolutely nothing. I was just answering to Hemiauchenia, giving more context. There's actually a paragraph in the article about his alien status, there's no need to put that in the intro. --Deansfa (talk) 17:33, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Dobrik is Slovak, not American, which is elaborated on under the Personal life section and cited. Living in America since he was six and targeting American audiences does not make him an American national. The lead currently reads "Slovak YouTuber [...] based in the United States", which sums it up very well imo. Throast (talk) 18:34, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

I removed Slovak from the brief title. Simply "internet personality" is more accurate. Including "Slovak" misleads people like me who knew nothing about this person Mastimido (talk) 05:58, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Nothing there is misleading. Don't you come to Wikipedia to gather new information? Dobrik is Slovak. You can't argue with facts. Throast (talk) 09:57, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Is he notable for being Slovak though? Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 20:47, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
How is that relevant, we're just giving his nationality like in every other article. FMSky (talk) 13:50, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
MOS:CONTEXTBIO nationalities or the place of birth should not be mentioned in the lead unless they are relevant to the subject's notability -- Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 19:47, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
I was not familiar with this. So the question was all along whether to omit his nationality from the lead, not what his nationality was. In accordance with MOS, I would remove "Slovak", but keep "based in the United States" then. I don't think his nationality is necessarily tied to his notability. Throast (talk) 11:06, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Until or unless DACA becomes a permanent thing, feeling American is not being a citizen. While we don’t know what his family’s rationale was when they came to the United States, there are countless people who come here and live for the rest of their life without becoming a citizen, whether it’s their personal decision or the immigration backlog. To go throwing around the word American is a slippery slope. I agree with removing Slovak if it sews confusion. Trillfendi (talk) 19:37, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
I removed Slovak with this edit. -- Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 19:15, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
