Article title
[edit]If a person is known by multiple names then the article title should be at the commonest, per WP:COMMONNAME. It is reasonable to create redirects from alternative names e.g. SER (artist). Tassedethe (talk) 18:00, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
New details to add to page, please agree with yes or know to add.
[edit]I added these details HERE to the darren Cullen page but they was removerd as being puffery? yes puffery? 1. Can anyone else please help make these edits less puffery or 2. Does anyone else object to me re adding the edit. The edits was backed up by credible web links. Sarah1971 (talk) 22:24, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- Just an example, the quite meaningless (puffery) phrase "around the world" appears more than once in that paragraph. There are also sourcing problems - some of the links you posted are dead, others are unreliable, and one was a "Google News" search result used to support the claim that the coverage was "viral." Articles need to be written in a dispassionate tone. VQuakr (talk) 21:55, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
Dont take what Im about to say as being rude as Im not, Im just asking. Rather than always taken down my work why not help in building it? I thought that was what Wikipedia was about, building pages & helping others. Sarah1971 22:06, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
help with adding content to Darren Cullen page
[edit]Hello :) here are many links that mention Darren Cullen. Can someone please help in using some of these links to add content to this page as I'm now a 100% qualified bad user. The links are: 1. Here 2. Here 3. Here 4. Here 5. Here 6. Here 7. Here 8 Here 9 Here 10. Here 11. Here 12. Here 13. Here 14. Here 15. Here 16. Here 17. Here 18. Here 19. Here 20. Here 21. Here 22. Here 23. Here 24. Before anyone asks or leaves a comment: I'm trying to learn like everyone else new & using a subject I know about (street art), I'm not linked to the subjects I'm working on, I'm just trying to make good of my edits that are being taken down. I'm trying to walk before I run, rather than editing/messing up many other pages. Sarah1971 22:27, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that Graffiti Kings be merged into Darren Cullen. The content of the article Graffiti Kings is already in the Darren Cullen article. Theroadislong (talk) 16:26, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- A bit premature, in my view. Let Sarah work a bit on it.Arildnordby (talk) 16:48, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- nope, notable in own right. why would sarah want to improve? are there any good faith editors here? Duckduckstop (talk) 17:32, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Are you suggesting I'm acting in bad faith?! Which sources demonstrate the notability of GK in its own right? I haven't been able to find anything. Cheers SmartSE (talk) 18:21, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- nope, just a general question. but if the shoe fits wears it. are you feeling bad? for all the reversion of this newbie, is there one editor who will collaborate with this editor? anyone? beuller? Duckduckstop (talk) 20:07, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

More work with weblinks added to Graffiti Kings I disagree with the merger, both pages notable in own right. Sarah1971 19:17, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
Just done a clean up [[Graffiti Kings}} page, hope it was OK, this page is now supported with a big majority of the links referring to the company Graffiti Kings. I feel this page is now notable in its own right. Although I felt it was already I'm just being cautious.
Please can other users look over this to confirm Sarah1971 21:27, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
When will a decision be made about the merge? I would say that the Graffiti Kings page is now notable in its own right with the sources added. If you many users think its not notable then please say why & I will fix the problem. Sarah1971 11:57, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
The contents of the Graffiti Kings page were merged into Darren Cullen (graffiti artist). For the contribution history and old versions of the redirected page, please see its history; for the discussion at that location, see its talk page. |
WP:BLPCRIME
[edit]I do not think this article makes clear enough that there was no conviction following the subject's arrest, as is required by WP:BLPCRIME. Sarah1971 brought up that this is an issue of concern to the subject here. VQuakr (talk) 19:25, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- I will look for sources. Theroadislong (talk) 19:30, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Ok, as a precaution I am going to blank the section for the time being, with the understanding that I have no objection to it being restored once this issue is resolved. VQuakr (talk) 19:34, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- The case against Cullen was dropped... source…[1] Theroadislong (talk) 21:15, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
edit
[edit]With regards to this edit by user Duckduckstop, as the statement is not promotional does this link here support it. Its the artists own page. Sarah1971 05:21, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
I suggest the above edit be allowed to use as a source because: 1) the statement is not promotional & 2) I thinks the section (Self-published and questionable sources as sources on themselves) from here gives this small non promotional edit the OK. I maybe be wrong so please tell me. Sarah1971 19:08, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
is this OK to add as a small sentance
[edit]Reworded of course: Cullen donates pieces of artwork to nonprofit organizations for underprivileged children. taken from here Sarah1971 15:34, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
Official graffiti artist
[edit]One of the captions in this source is the only remotely reliable source that states Cullen was the "official graffiti artist for London 2012.". I consider this claim to be exceptional and per WP:EXCEPTIONAL it therefore requires much better sourcing than this. If he really was the official graffiti artist, it should be easy to find better sources, but if not, it seems likely that the source has just blindly repeated what Cullen claims. SmartSE (talk) 11:41, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Given his arrest before the Olympics it seems unlikely that he would be the official graffiti artist. If he was then I would have thought The Guardian would have mentioned it! SmartSE (talk) 15:43, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- OK so heres the evidence... 1. He was arrested for something unrelated to the Olympics, the police for some reason said he was not allowed near the Olympics? this caused an outrage as the crime he was being accused of had nothing to do with the games, (hence why many news sites picked up the crazy story) look here Note the dates: The games had not even started yet.
At some point after the arrest & after all the online articles had been written,(note the dates of the articles, all written withing days of each other) & weeks before the games started.
After hes arrest he was approached by the Olympics, maybe they saw the story? great advert. How do I know he was contacted by the before the games started? 1. the request was approved by the British Transport Police & he has photos of himself in the stadium.
Text below taken from here
The case against Mr Cullen was dropped last week, but despite being banned from the sporting event the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games contacted him to help work on the set of the opening ceremony.
This request was approved by the British Transport Police and Mr Cullen completed final checks on parts of the set before it went into the arena. - (this being the stage sets for the opening opening ceremony) Darren pictured here IN THE MIDDLE of the Olympic Stadium, you can see the stage sets in the background. ITV News mention "SER, aka Darren Cullen, was the official graffiti artist for London 2012". [here Sarah1971 19:36, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- I've already read of those sources and none of them are suitable for this claim. Painting part of the scenery for the opening ceremony doesn't make him the 'official graffiti artist' regardless of whether he had his photo taken in the stadium. As I've already said, I don't think that ITV source is sufficient for such an exceptional claim and so we need something extra. SmartSE (talk) 20:27, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
"Painting part of the scenery for the opening ceremony doesn't make him the 'official graffiti artist" LOL when you put like that yeah I see what you mean, lol really do :) OK I suggest we leave the current Olympic content on the page as is then, as that's what it states & is is a fact that he did. He worked on the sets for the opening ceremony. Sarah1971 22:04, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Edit by user User:Theroadislong
[edit]At Theroadislong, Why isthis edit an issue? The cliam is taken from a source, just like every other edit on this page? Sarah1971 14:27, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why you consider it an "issue' ? I was just asking for examples as it seemed a bit vague.Theroadislong (talk) 15:08, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- It's a poor quality source and I agree that it sounds waffley as it is. SmartSE (talk) 15:45, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
You would SmartSE, looking at your history your doing everything in your power to ruin this person. Sarah1971 17:47, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Please assume good faith, he is a VERY experienced editor and please read Wikipedia:No personal attacks Theroadislong (talk) 17:50, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
There has been no positive help, history shows its all just negative since the reported unproven sockpuppet suspicion, if wrong then help put right. Sarah1971 18:13, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Help "put right" what? Theroadislong (talk) 18:15, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Darren Cullen graffiti artist is mentioned online in a big way, (the reason I picked the subject) so hes doing really well in hes profession as a graffiti artist. My brother has been a professional Plummer for 40+ years & has worked all over the world but yet hes not mentioned once online. I have found links for Darren Cullen going back to the early 90s, not hard to find if you wanted. Hell you even found that key info on him being cleared of an arrest, GREAT work. So just like your great work, when a edit is thought to be wrong help put right, not search just to be spiteful. Sarah1971 18:33, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
@ Theroadislong sorry I never saw your 1st reply :( NO NO NO I'm not making a issue about it I was just asking nicely. Just wondered why question the article that mentioned it, & why not question the many others that say things. I asked because your reply would be a part of my learning process, not an attack sorry. Sarah1971 03:32, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- I have more than 22,000 articles on my watch list. If you look at my history you will see that I question many other people's edits not just yours, it's nothing personal, I'm helping to build a neutral encyclopedia. All good wishes. Theroadislong (talk) 07:47, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Another artist of the name Darren Cullen
[edit]A Google search for Darren Cullen will show 2 main results for 2 people called Darren Cullen. 1 person being >>this person He is the wrong person we are talking about he is not a graffiti artist, no connection to graffiti, the word graffiti is not on hes website. The edit I removed belongs to this person.
Google Darren Cullen with graffiti in the title & all results will show the work of the artist we are working on. Sarah1971 15:01, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out - it's rather confusing. Without those sources though, notability per WP:ARTIST is looking a bit shaky. SmartSE (talk) 15:53, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Not confusing at all? Darren Cullen is a graffiti artist & all his work off & online shows this. Every article names him as "graffiti artist Darren Cullen" in some order or another, never just Darren Cullen, the the words "Graffiti Artist" are always mentioned. that's the difference. Hes Wikipedia page starts of as.... Darren Cullen is a British graffiti artist who is commonly known by the tag name SER. Cullen emerged as an artist from the British graffiti art scene in the early 1980s.

- The mistake was entirely mine I added content which referred to the wrong person sorry.Theroadislong (talk) 18:09, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
I guess it happens all day everyday on or offline, sometimes when I walk down the street people think I'm Angelina Jolie :) Sarah1971 18:18, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

@ Theroadislong Agreed. This is where I really struggle, & would like to hope that someone would kindly correct rather than just deleting. I'm sure I will get a hang of this soon. Sarah1971 21:13, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
