Indirect deaths
[edit]https://twitter.com/dawn_com/status/1394655871070769156?s=20 Would this be indirect deaths due to not directly linked to the storm?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.18.104.121 (talk) 15:47, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Power restoration in Goa
[edit]The statement "Power went out in Goa for 15 minutes, before being restored shortly afterward" is incorrect and misleading, making it seem that the power supply of the entirety of Goa was fully restored in that timeframe. "15 minutes" is only mentioned in one of the provided sources, and that's specifically about Goa Medical College, which is only mentioned because it's an important Covid treatment center. Most of Goa had no power for over 48 hours as you can read in these articles -
- https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/70-of-state-without-power-supply-may-take-two-more-days-for-full-restoration/articleshow/82722613.cms
- https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/india/cyclone-power-supply-to-be-restored-in-entire-goa-by-may-19/articleshow/82735046.cms?from=mdr
- And this one from the same site as one of the sources provided in support of that "15 minutes" statement, if for some reason the TOI isn't deemed to be good enough - https://www.news18.com/news/india/damaged-by-cyclone-tauktae-power-supply-to-be-restored-in-entire-goa-by-may-19-3750281.html
It even says this in one of the sources currently linked: "CM Sawant said that most parts of Goa are currently without electricity, adding that it will take two days to restore things." So it's obvious that 15 minutes is specific to GMC. It's mentioned in the paragraph about hospitals not losing power. It's like using "Power was restored in the White House within 15 minutes" to support the statement: "Power restored in Washington DC within 15 minutes."
Unless someone can provide a source that supports the statement that power was restored in Goa in 15 minutes, I'm changing it to "Several areas in Goa were left without power as a result of damage caused to the power supply," with no mention of times. Brc2000 (talk) 16:19, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Lede
[edit]Currently reads: began to parallel the coast of the Indian state of Kerala, Karnataka, before rapidly... Choose one, or pluralise "state". From the map in the next section, it looks like it didn't begin to track along the coast until Karnataka, but that's just me looking at a map, not a RS. Moscow Mule (talk) 21:24, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Moscow Mule: I edited it to reflect that it's both, per this. Thanks! codingcyclone advisories/damages 02:46, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
