I don't know if this is a request for a "change", but I wanted to leave some suggestions for additions to the Daily Telegraph libel story in his personal life section. These articles say that the Telegraph falsely claimed he "put his cruthes down to dance with models.", and that he drank vodka and champagne. 1
The BBC wrote an article that said he also received libel damages for 8,000 pound sterling for The Sun falsely claiming he used his phone during a training session. The article also says he donated the money to charity in Madeira. 1 2 3
The Independent said he went with the Portuguese national team physio, Antonio Gaspar, and rested his foot as advised and drank non-alcoholic beverages in a corner with friends. I think this should be added just in case someone wants to mention what he actually did at the nightclub. The article also mentions Sir Alex and Roy Keane appeared as witnesses. 1
A Reuters article says that the trial happened at London High Court, and that the Daily Telegraph had admitted to making false accusations and would accept to pay damages. The article also says that it happened at a Los Angeles nightclub, if a location wants to be added, and that the player was embarrassed by the situation because it affected his reputation. 1 71.208.32.185 (talk) 19:51, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

Your discussion proposal is certainly welcome, but the edit request should be opened when you or the community have decided on specific wording and sources to be added, and you just need somebody to make those additions. Josef Bican
According to the Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation, Bican has scored 805+ goals in his career, so Ronaldo didn't reach him. This was also confirmed by an article published by FIFA on 25 September 2020, in which it stated: "'Pepi', as he was known, is credited with scoring 805 goals in 530 games". "The master of marksmen". FIFA. --Mazewaxie (talk • contribs) 11:01, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
Jewish?
There's no mention of the subject in CR's article or at this talk page and I think it's appropriate to bring it up: According to an article from last year [1] (not the best translation but what I could find), a team of Portuguese-Brazilian historians specializing in genealogy and Portuguese nationality revealed that the player has Jewish roots. He is a descendant of "Portuguese Jews who fled from persecution made by the king of Portugal Dom Joao III in the early 16th century" (they even provide details about one of his ancestor). Technology and history can do a lot it seems. I do not have a strong opinion about the importance of this info, but if he talked about it in the past then it's definitely info to consider adding to the article. Regards, Bezrat (talk) 14:58, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
The information isn’t well known, and Ronaldo hasn’t spoken much about it if at all. I don’t think this is needed. FluffSquad (talk) 03:15, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Correct, he hasn't made public remarks about it and it shouldn't be included in the article at the moment. But it's useful to put this info out here for the record, because if he does talk about it in the future, or it becomes well known and confirmed, it would merit a mention. Bezrat (talk) 05:38, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Appearances and goals under the senior career heading are inaccurate.
It should be : Apps. Goals Sporting CP B - 2 0 Sporting CP - 31 5 Manchester United - 292 118 Real Madrid - 438 450 Juventus - 109 85 864sk (talk) 05:54, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

Dollars
Ronaldo doesn't get paid in dollars, therefore he isn't the third sportsman to have been paid $1 billion. He's never played in the USA, he isn't American. Such a nonsense thing to include. ItsKesha (talk) 19:27, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter. He was paid a certain amount in euros, which translates into 1 billion USD. You need to keep the same currency for ranking purposes: you can't rank Ronaldo's wage in euros with LeBron James's salary in dollars otherwise. Nehme1499 (talk) 19:32, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- Why should it be converted to dollars in the first place? He's Portuguese, plays in Italy, has played in England and Spain. He simply doesn't get paid in dollars, and never has. What does Lebron James have to do with this? ItsKesha (talk) 19:57, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- The article is about the highest paid athletes (LeBron James is an athlete...), not the highest paid athletes who are paid in dollar (or euro). To rank all the athletes in the world, you would need them all to be ranked within the same currency. They could have done the same article using euros, it doesn't matter. Nehme1499 (talk) 20:00, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- The article is about Ronaldo being "soccer's first billion-dollar man". There's no rankings in the article so I've no idea what you're on about. It's American website Forbes who have converted the currency, into dollars. And he simply isn't paid in dollars so this information is therefore irrelevant. ItsKesha (talk) 20:45, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- See Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid athletes. For a player to be the third in something, there must be a ranking. Nehme1499 (talk) 21:07, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- Except that I'm not arguing that he isn't one of the highest paid sportsmen? ItsKesha (talk) 21:57, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- I see both parts of the argument, but I think that Nehme1499 is right, you have to use a common currency. Paul Vaurie (talk) 15:04, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
- That's precisely my point, that there should be a common currency used? He is Portuguese and has played in Spain and Italy for the last 12 years, and therefore the currency used should be the Euro. And as he has played in England for six years, any secondary currency should be the Pound. It makes no sense whatsoever for this article to mention anything in American Dollars. ItsKesha (talk) 18:58, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
- The source (Forbes) lists it as dollars, therefore that's how we should list it too. --SuperJew (talk) 20:12, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
- @ItsKesha: I'm also not sure what exactly you are suggesting as an alternative. To list him as football's firsts 821.389643 million Euros man? --SuperJew (talk) 20:13, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
- But he isn't a "billion dollar man" as he doesn't get paid in dollars and isn't even American. The text should be removed. ItsKesha (talk) 12:15, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- The reality is most "billionaire's" are measured in USD, as specified by most of these articles. I think it's relevant and should be kept.--Ortizesp (talk) 06:22, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- They don't really use "billion" in Europe too much, usually "milliard"... at least in French; I'm not sure about British English as I speak American English. And I don't know about other languages. Personally I think saying he's the first billionaire footballer is totally fine, you don't really become "billionaire" after having 1,000,000,000 euros, but you do after 1,000,000,000 USD. Paul Vaurie (talk) 15:20, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- Milliard is not really used in English at all (UK, US, AUS, whatever). It's only used in latin-based languages I think. Still, saying that a player is the first "billionaire" is the same as saying he's the first "millionario" in Italian, regardless of the currency. Just a translation. Nehme1499 (talk) 17:15, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

Article split
As per the article size editing guidelines, I think it would be worth splitting the international section into its' own article. All my warmest wishes, ItsKesha (talk) 20:56, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
- I think the whole article probably just needs to be rewritten in a more appropriate summary style. Splitting off just the "International" section feels really weird to me. – PeeJay 14:28, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
- We can’t split his international career with the rest of his career. One issue mentioned in the edit summary is how busy the article is, as new editors constantly add stuff to a career that is ongoing, much of which I’ve previously had to chop. It’s much easier to write about a playing career that has ended. The article itself, much like Obama’s, will be bigger than the norm though as there is so much to fit in. Nampa DC (talk) 15:54, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- There's literally articles devoted to "international goals", I'm not sure why this is so different. And Barack Obama definitely isn't a good example seeing as there's dozens and dozens of off-shoot articles about him. All my warmest wishes, ItsKesha (talk) 21:49, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

I want to edit this page to update Cristiano Ronaldo's current football team regarding his transfer to Manchester United from Juventus. I'd also like to include his recent transfer on his career history and write about the whole 48 hour saga of him possibly transferring to rivals Manchester City, before former teammate Rio Ferdinand, former manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes managed to convince him to decline Manchester City's transfer offer and accept Manchester United's instead. - @167.98.105.22: Please assume good faith and also read articles more carefully. The latest story on this topic on the BBC website says United have agreed to pay £12.8m for the 36-year-old, with the deal subject to personal terms, a visa and a medical meaning the deal is not final yet. The last sentence of the article says A few hours later the club announced they had reached an agreement for what will be their third major signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane (emphasis mine), also indicating that the Ronaldo is not yet a Manchester United Player. Addition of his medical report data (publicly reported) when he transferred to Juventus.
I User:Leesjy2k have been trying to include the following relevant information regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus. However, this useful information has been unnecessarily reverted by User:Nehme1499, he or she claimed that it was unnecessarily specific. However, I was directly citing from relevant press articles. They mentioned that Cristiano Ronaldo was faster than Kylian Mbappe at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, it was not my own words. I hope to re-include this into the Cristiano Ronaldo page soon, as this was an improvement on the article that was unnecessarily reverted by just one editor. I would like any commenters for this issue.
At the medical examination required to complete the transfer, his medical showed that Ronaldo, who was then a 33-year-old, had the physical age of a 20-year-old as he possessed 7% body fat, when the average for a professional footballer of the same age was 10%, whilst 50% of his body was made up of muscle mass, compared to 46% on average.[1][2] Leesjy2k (talk) 08:44, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
> Ronaldo, then 33-years-old, was noted to be the fastest player at the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament, reaching 33.98 kilometres per hour, faster even than the then-19-year-old teenager Kylian Mbappe.[3] Leesjy2k (talk) 08:46, 10 July 2021 (UTC)

Reviewer: Chipmunkdavis (talk · contribs) 14:15, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
I'm interested in taking on this review. As an initial comment the lead needs reworking to better reflect the article. While it appears to go through a list of awards twice in two separate paragraphs, his player profile, outside life, and personal life appear to be unmentioned. The other immediate issue that stands out is using notes to group citations. Such citations can be grouped within normal reference code. I note at the outset that this is a particularly long article, with 81kB of prose. Due to the specificity of the article and the lack of subarticles, I think that is acceptable for the moment in terms of prose size, however, on a technical level, this article may be exceeding the WP:PEIS, as the Authority control template is not loading for me. Before undertaking a detailed assessment however, I note that the nominator has not made many edits to the article, and would like to inquire if regular editors were approached prior to the nomination as recommended at WP:GANI, and/or are involved in this GAN. CMD (talk) 14:15, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
- There has not been a reply to my question above, nor work on the lead or citation issues I mentioned over the past week. Further reading through, I would agree with the comments on the 2020 peer review, that many areas of this article are individual match stats with no apparent indication of overall relevance of notability. This begins in the third paragraph of 2003–2007: Development and breakthrough, and occurs at various locations throughout. This is not to say that every statistic or match fact is like this, some do provide an explanation of interest and notability, but even the specific examples raised in the last peer review don't appear to have been touched at all. Another issue is neutrality, particularly in the article's WP:TONE. There is a profusion of quotes, both in quote boxes and in the text, many of which do not seem to add much encyclopaedic context. The Player profile section seems quite jargon-heavy, and uses quite flowery language that could easily be rewritten to be more accessible to a general audience (eg. "make him an aerial goal threat in the penalty area"). The Career statistics section could use some prose to summarise the table and note the most notable achievements. There are some scattered throughout the article elsewhere, so it's very odd there's no text about them in the dedicated section. The same applies to the Honours section, which has the additional issue of half of it being a list of seasons played, which is already covered under Career.
- Given the issues identified, and especially given the lack of activity, I am closing this now. Before a new nomination, it would be good to make sure issues raised in the Peer Review are dealt with, as well as those I have mentioned here. CMD (talk) 09:41, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Family name
Instead of the first or maternal family name is dos Santos
shouldn't it be the first or maternal family name is Santos
as explained in [2] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikipedante (talk • contribs)
- I've been surfing a few articles with similar articles; some have the 'dos' in the naming customs note and some don't. Currently, at the top of the following articles, José Mourinho has his maternal family name as Santos but Oscar (footballer, born 1991) has his maternal family name as "dos Santos". In addition, Willian (footballer, born 1988) has "da Silva" as his paternal name. At this moment there is no consistency as to which one is correct or not. I'm inclined to keep the dos in there like with Dutch names where the surname, e.g. Van den Berg, is the correct version though others may have different views on this Portuguese naming dilemma. Please add update surrounding rape case
This edit request to Cristiano Ronaldo has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
Under the "Legal Issues" subheading, the last update says:
In July 2019, Las Vegas prosecutors said they would not charge Ronaldo over allegations of rape; the statement added: "Based upon a review of information at this time, the allegations of sexual assault against Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt."[544]
However, the case is still ongoing and this gives a false impression. In 2020, a judge put the case back on course for trial. As far as I can tell, that's the last substantive news on the case. Here is a report from the Associated Press: https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/10/06/cristiano-ronaldo-rape-case-trial-kathryn-mayorga
I'm requesting for someone to add the following to the page:
"In 2020, a judge put the case back on course for trial, saying she will hear arguments from both sides and make a decision herself on the matter."
I want to cite the Associated Press there as well. Thank you.

- Not done: This isn't trial for the rape, it's for the accuser saying she was not fit to sign the original settlement agreement. Your wording implies that this would be a trial for rape. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:45, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
OK, I'm not a legal expert and I'm not fully aware of the implications of the case, but I do think as it stands it's incomplete. There are still legal issues connected to the alleged rape that the page does not mention (it is under the heading of "legal issues", not "rape jury trial," after all), and it gives the wrong impression that it's all fully settled. Plane in support of Kathryn Mayorga
Are there any valid reasons this incident of note shouldn't be covered in the section "return to Manchester United"? The reason it was done is the "culture of silence" surrounding the rape first reported by Der Speigel, (which Ronaldo admitted to in those documents, so it's not an "allegation"). The reporting of the rape following his return has itself been the topic of controversy for The Athletic and The Guardian, among others. You can't stick your fingers in your ears and deny this is all happening. All my warmest wishes, ItsKesha (talk) 10:48, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

- ItsKesha I don't normally edit football articles but unproven allegations are unproven allegations, no WP:RS no legal court verdict or anything that solidifies the claim. And I don not see the relevance of these allegations in CR7's football (soccer) career article. Today allegations can be and ARE made against anyone, even Bob Dylan for an incident that supposedly happened in the 1960s, that has no proof. As those editors said innocent until proven guilty, and these allegations do not meet WP:Notability. Please do not try to push your agenda defaming legendary CR7 based on unproven allegations. If there is a solid judiciary verdict then we can see. All my warmest wishes. Dilbaggg (talk) 13:14, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- He can't go to jail if he refuses to enter the country, as in 2018 and then in 2019. It's irrelevant it being called an "allegation" when he not only paid her, he admitted the allegations, and then refused to enter the country, and then the clubs he plays for refuse to address the matter; hence the "culture of silence" by not only the club but by sections of the media, the entire purpose of the information I included in the article. You can't just ignore this is all happening and hiding by using the word allegation. All my warmest wishes, ItsKesha (talk) 13:25, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- Can you please quote from your so-called "source" where CR7 admitted that he had raped? And if you pay someone for sex its not rape, its buying a service, she had the right to refuse the money. Either ways the matter was settled, CR7 have been proven innocent. Your so called sources seems to be hate rants rather than reliable sources. And please do not misquote source, there is not a single line in your sources where CR7 "admitted he raped/had forced sex". Also the documents that were talking about a person named X (there is zero evidence that X is refering to CR7, only your unreliable source states that) have later been stated to be fabrictaed. Your sources appear non Neutral and defamatory]]. WP:RS and the legal verdicts proved CR7's innocence. Dilbaggg (talk) 13:45, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- Also here is Kathryn Mayorga's twitter confession she is doing all these unproven allegation "to become rich": https://twitter.com/mayorga_kathryn/status/1049228378715443200 Dilbaggg (talk) 13:59, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- I get it. You have absolutely no understanding of the case whatsoever, and you still have absolutely no idea what a reliable source is. Please can you do your research before discussing this? All my warmest wishes, ItsKesha (talk) 16:30, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- It appears to be your WP:OR that allegations are facts, no WP:RS claims them facts and charges were dropped, so allegations are allegations. Best wishes. Dilbaggg (talk) 17:42, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- The article isn't even claiming that the allegations are facts, and neither was the text I included. Get your facts right please. All my warmest wishes, ItsKesha (talk) 18:06, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

- ItsKesha Three editors have reverted your unreliable edits that have nothing to do with CR7's football career so far. Please seek an WP:RfC. What a few members have within the attendence does have nothing to do with CR7's football career section and these false allegations are already mentioned in a separate section. Next thing you might end up doing is writing about fans drinking soda at the attendance, this section is about CR7's solo football career. Eitherways many editors have disagreed the credibility of this addition of yours, so please seek WP:RfC. Dilbaggg (talk) 06:54, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- ItsKesha Keep shamelessly adding your original opinion dismissing real settled verdicts, WP:RS and the accuser's own confession that she did it to be rich, yet another editor (not me or the ones who did before) has reverted your disruptive dits. Who do you think you are, some superiority complex that your own opinion about a matter is bigger than anything? Thankfully editors are stepping in and reverting your disruptive editings. if you have any decency you would ask for an WP:RfC and let voters decide the matter than this disgusting WP:EW attempting behavior. You are not the owner of this article, let voters decide the matter or the protectors of Wikipedia will revert your disruptive editing. Dilbaggg (talk) 11:27, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- It's not my opinion that a plane flew overhead protesting the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo and the controversy surround him. There's actual pictures of it happening. This discussion about him since signing for United is actually happening by reliable sources like The Athletic, The Guardian, The Independent, BBC, Manchester Evening News, i, ESPN, Sky Sports... need I go on? This isn't a normal thing that happens in football. And the fact you believe an obviously fake Twitter account says so much about your ability, or lack thereof, to judge reliable sources. All my warmest wishes, ItsKesha (talk) 11:41, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- Then it belongs to the controversy section, it has nothing to do with his football career, fans react differently to things, haters hate, and all, plus I don't see a single other editor agreeing that this is WP:Notable ItsKesha. Planes have also been known to flow above other football games for different reasons, doesn't necessarily make them notable. Good day, please do not WP:EW, just seek a consensus gto test its notability please. Dilbaggg (talk) 11:44, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- One last thing, the Twitter account is legitimate, she confessed that it was all for money. Its obvious on that tweet, she tried to cover it up later but its too late. Thank goodness justice prevailed and CR7 has been cleared legally from these false allegations. Best wishes and bye. Dilbaggg (talk) 11:45, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- If you think it belongs in the controversy section, you would have moved it to the controversy section. You still can. It's so simple to do! But the fact is, you describe my edits as "defaming legendary CR7" and delete them, and then insult me as having a "superiority complex". Nobody has explained or argued as to it's notability, please don't put words into the mouths (hands) of other editors. If your argument is that planes have flown over other games, therefore that makes it not notable (which is a prime example of whataboutery), rudimentary research shows me that last season, 0.007% of games had a plane fly over it with a banner. The season before, 0.005%. I believe all but one of those planes warrants mention in the associated article. And where is your evidence the Twitter account is real? The account is three years old, has 300 followers, doesn't have a blue tick, and aside from these obvious facts, the Tweets themselves are obviously not real. Like I said, it says a lot. All my warmest wishes, ItsKesha (talk) 12:09, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- IMO it doesnt belong in the article at all; it's trivia FMSky (talk) 12:43, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- Accusations of a club being completely silent about a high-profile player paying a woman who accused him of rape, and all incidents and news around it, are "trivial"? Now, bear in mind this isn't one sentence in articles, one incident, one source. This is now an ongoing thing regarding his return to the club. I think this is unprecedented in football? All my warmest wishes, ItsKesha (talk) 14:12, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

mention the origin of his name, namely receiving it after Ronald Reagan, as Cristiano confirmed himself in this GQ article: https://www.gq.com/story/cristiano-ronaldo-gq-body-issue and also in this Washington Post article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2016/01/19/cristiano-ronaldo-was-named-after-ronald-reagan-no-really/ Le13ron (talk) 13:50, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

Ronaldo had scored four goals in three matches since returning to Manchester United. This should be updated from two goals in one match. 120.159.185.15 (talk) 13:52, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
