Change of link targets of the CAF Website: The CAF website revamped in 2019, making hyperlinks from articles about all CAF events and competitions from 2014 until the end of that year currently non-reachable, causing IP users, Wikipedians and WP Bots alike to resort to archived links from the Wayback Machine for preservation. As of 23:28, Sunday, November 10, 2024 (UTC), contains this link contains the earliest archived info page about events on 29 January 2013 which could be very useful here on WP going foward. Since 21 March 2023, Intrisit has been around articles related or affiliated to this article's topic switching over links currently on related articles here to reflect the changes on the website. This notice will be removed once the link switch-overs are completed. Thanks for your attention. |

Fair use rationale for Image:CAF logo.GIF
[edit]Image:CAF logo.GIF is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Translation for Confédération Africaine de Football The correct translation is the African Football Confederation and not "Confederation of African Football" which has a different meaning to those who are fluent in English but may be understood despite the wrong grammar. I have seen English abbreviations of AFC in English speaking African countries alongside CAF. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.81.83 (talk) 23:14, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
CAF is an acronym french name of the confederation: "Confédération Africaine de Football" and not for Confederation of African Football which does not make sense and is an incorrect translation, as the proper English translation is "African Football Confederation" Besides, French is the main official language for this sports federation. --Adel.M.Radwan (talk) 22:32, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Split article = Cleaner and higher rated article
[edit]I suggest splitting of the article into smaller and cleaner ones with reliable references and as fewer non-existing pages as we can in order to get a higher rate by the WikiProject Africa, as C-Class rate is such an extreme rate for an article talking about 51 years of football history in Africa. Besides, articles about other federations (e.g. UEFA) got higher rate although the main article contains less information that that of CAF's nevertheless, more organized.
I'll be giving 3 (three) days to all contributors and editors to consider splitting the article before I start splitting it my own.
For all those who would like to contribute in splitting and refining the article, add their name and/or signature in the “Contributors” section below.
Thank you. --Adel.M.Radwan (talk) 20:57, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- This would seem a good idea. Perhaps you might take CONMEBOL and/or UEFA as models: more developed topics which are close analogs but each is split into much smaller articles. T L Miles (talk) 22:56, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
That is exactly what I'm planning to do. Thank you so much for your advice. All further suggestions and contributions are so much appreciated and welcomed. --Adel.M.Radwan (talk) 23:40, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Clear bias
[edit]"Nevertheless, Africa produced skilled players and teams that match, and sometimes exceed Europeans, but, these isolated cases should not be self-deceptive into believing that Africa have achieved European standards in all the domains of football."
This is a clearly biased, Euro-centric statement and blatantly non-neutral POV. Must be reworded or deleted altogether.Avman89 (talk) 06:36, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed, removing now. Crazydude22 (talk) 13:59, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Names of Regional Zones incorrect
[edit]The name of regional zones are not the official ones used by CAF. You refused my changes but if you go to the cafonline.com website on the draw for the 2014 African Nations Championship: http://www.cafonline.com/userfiles/file/Fixture_CHAN%202014.pdf, you will see that the correct names used by CAF are: - North Zone - Zone West A - Zone West B - Central Zone - Central-East Zone - Southern Zone. So, before refusing any edits on your article, check data first... Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rafa1985 (talk • contribs) 11:49, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
Is Zanzibar really an associated member of CAF?
[edit]I'm not really sure that Zanzibar is actually an associated member of CAF... On the http://www.cafonline.com/ website this association is not listed with the other members when the association of Reunion is... If you have any information which proves that this association is an associated member indeed, please let me know. For sure they are full member of CECAFA but CAF...? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rafa1985 (talk • contribs) 12:02, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
- At Zanzibar team's own talk page you present two sources saying it is full member and one saying it is associate member. In this situation we should know what sources they have used, to confirm this for good. I would believe more CAF itself, hard to think they would not know which are their members. It wouldn't be the first time reliable sources are wrong, and probably not the last time either. 82.141.67.203 (talk) 04:11, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Liberia in Zone West A, not Zone West B
[edit]Also I corrected a false information on your article: Liberia is in Zone West A and not in Zone West B as you were indicated before. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rafa1985 (talk • contribs) 12:12, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

[edit]My fellow editors of the African football community I came here with a suggestion is to remove the u15 section from the table in caf members paragraph because most of the u15 teams has no wiki page and there is no official competition organized by caf in this category so I hope that you took my suggestion in consideration Mo Amine M (talk) 02:46, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
