Coffea racemosa

[edit]

Wikipedia states that Coffea racemosa os also known as Inhambane coffee. This is incorrect as there are two coffee species occuring in the Inhambane area, Coffea racemosa (quite rare) and Coffea zanguebariae (abundant). The common name of Inhambane coffee therefore refers to two species without distintion. To allocate the tag to one of the species, is incorrect. Further, Wikipedia lists commercial plantations on Ibo Island and Hluhluwe, in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The plantation on Ibo Island was found to be Coffea zanguebariae through DNA analysis. The full research article is on Google under ResearchNet, written by Paul Mazofera, a Brazilian researcher. The two species look nearly identical but the taste of their beans is vastly different. Coffea racemosa has a pleasant, fruity, grapelike flavour, whilst Coffea zanguebariae has an unpleasant, medicinal flavour. 197.218.115.40 (talk) 15:47, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
