However, due to continuing increases in the cost of natural gas and oil amid genuine concerns about the availability, sustainability and most importantly, the security of supply of oil and gas worldwide, there has been a huge shift back to the cosy traditional open fire and the proliferation of the many other clean burning, highly efficient solid fuel burning appliances. Indeed the financial and economic crisis throughout Europe since 2007/8 has seen a return to coal and smokeless fuel deliveries to millions of homes.[citation needed][weasel words]
