Contested deletion
[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because I am currently updating wikipedia with various concert touring companies beginning with Classical Movements, who is a real company that has been around since 1992.— Preceding unsigned comment added by JessicaZaluzecCM (talk • contribs)
- Please have a read of WP:Conflict of interest, and wait for somebody not connected with your company to write an article about it. Thank you. Filing Flunky (talk) 16:22, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- I agree that the article, as written, its too promotional and JessicaZaluzecCM should not be editing it. However, there is a kernel of a decent article here and the organization appears to be notable, per the sources given. I've therefore declined the speedy deletion and suggest either there is an effort to rewrite the content to comply with WP:NPOV and/or the article is discussed at [{WP:AFD|AfD]]. There is too much to discuss to speedy this, IMHO. Sparthorse (talk) 16:34, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with Sparthorse. The article is written like an ad, but could be rewritten properly, and the subject is clearly notable. I've done a bit of re-formatting, and I will do more work on it ASAP. Ebikeguy (talk) 22:11, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- I would like to contribute to this article by adding the company's history's page. Therefore, how can I contribute to the company's wikipedia page, so that the following banners might be removed: "A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. It may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies, particularly neutral point of view. Please discuss further on the talk page. (December 2011) This article may be written like an advertisement. Please help improve it by rewriting promotional content from a neutral point of view and removing any inappropriate external links. (December 2011). Many Thanks! (AbigailFason (talk) 18:56, 22 December 2011 (UTC))
- You may not add the company's history page without going through the process described at WP:Donating copyrighted material. Even if you do go through this process, it is unlikely that the company's history page will be an appropriate addition to the article, because most companies write their own histories in ways that make the company look very good, which would constitute promotion, and is disallowed on Wikipedia. Potential Editors / Contributors
[edit]For some reason this article has attracted attention from new editors who are apparently unfamiliar with Wikipedia policies. I'd like to offer a bit of advice to them...
Please stop and ask yourself why you are contributing to this article, and what the value of the information you are contributing is.
Wikipedia is not a platform for publicity, public relations, advertising, or any other activity solely aimed at improving a company. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. People who really care about this "project" are WP:HERE here to build an encyclopedia. It is here to transfer knowledge. There are several Wikipedia policies (WP:NOTADVERTISING, WP:NPOV, WP:COI, and more) that cover the type of editing that has been done to this article so far.
If you want to add encyclopedic information to this article, please go ahead. If you want to increase the visibility of the subject company as part of a PR or advertising campaign, then please stop. It will get removed.
A simple test to see if your information belongs here or not is WP:RS, Wikipedia's policy on Reliable Sources. Any information that you add to an article, should be covered in a reliable, third party source—for example a news article on Classical Movements, or an article in a magazine. The company's own website is not a reliable source.
I'll volunteer to mentor anyone on how to improve this article, as long as their real reason for being here is the same as mine—to build an encyclopedia. Livit⇑Eh?/What? 20:45, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- Per this request, I've added some more citations, plus another I was able to find from a news archive to which I have a subscription. I've also copyedited the article to remove the PR hype. It's probably enough to scrape a notability pass. Voceditenore (talk) 17:26, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
