Redundant article?

This article is already largely covered in the Tyto pollens article and could be deleted/merged.

No. One thing is the cryptid and the other is the fossil animal. Only that the two are identified by some to be one and the same. --Againme (talk) 21:09, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I completely rewrote the Tyto pollens article, that was a bunch of nonsense, and what has happened here is Chinese whispers: Marcot invented some specious BS, someone added that to Wikipedia and added more BS inventions; and now someone used that BS and invented more BS based on that. Case in point: Marcot says "may have survived on Andros until the coming of early man"; a Wikipedia editor goes off on limb and uses that to write "became extinct with the arrival of Europeans and their slaves in the 16th century" in the T. pollens article; another Wikipedia editor reads that and invents "it was rumored to survive until the 16th century" here. This is just pure nonsense.

For one, the Spanish visited in Andros in the 16th century, but no whites and their slaves settled here until the 18th century; the forests were only really felled in the 1970s; there are only a handful of fossil bones known from three individuals of T. pollens, none are from Andros, none are from a period when (Native American) humans existed on the islands; T. pollens was absolutely not flightless; it was not 1 meter tall; there are no "scholars" "believing" in this "theory", there is only one guy talking shit; the first fossil was excavated in the 1930s so it is impossible that any "rumours" about this species existed in the 16th century (when no one lived on these islands) -Zjeesh!
