Importance
Question: Does the news story involved with this chapter rate a move to high Importance?Trey (talk) 23:02, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Names
What are the names of those convicted? Since they are almost certainly over 18, they should be included in this article.Bill Heller (talk) 11:04, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Further info needed
The article is called Chi Tau, not 'The hazing death of Matthew Carrington'. Accordingly, there should be more information about Chi Tau - especially of the consequences for the 'rogue' fraternity (and/or fraternity members) of Carrington's unfortunate death. --Centrepull (talk) 00:46, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
- I made several changes to meet this request. Jax MN (talk) 16:48, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
Moving to Chi Tau (local)
A different, older, larger and national Chi Tau organization was established in 1920, with almost a dozen chapters. It is unlikely to have any connection, as its remaining chapters were disbanded or went local in 1929, leaving a ten year gap before formation of the Chico organization. As this larger, older group has precedence over the Chico local I am moving the Chico local to a page that reflects its independent establishment. Look for the posting of a Chi Tau national page on approximately 8 Jun 2019. I will add a Wikilink once the moves are effected. Jax MN (talk) 21:50, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- After researching and working on these pages, it is clear to me that there is no connection between the North Carolina group and the Chico State group. I've added an infobox and logo for the Chico State group, from the first yearbook where they are mentioned. In it (1940 ed.) there is a brief note discussing that the first month after formation their efforts were spent organizing the young chapter, and that they didn't have time to do social events. This reference didn't refer to any predecessor group. Jax MN (talk) 21:43, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- Wikilink added to the comment above. Again, this local had no connection to the older, larger and dormant national of the same name. Jax MN (talk) 18:45, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
Aftermath is written in a very POV way.
The section on aftermath seems highly POV, with statements such as:
- "...died a senseless, painful death, leaving his family shattered..."
- "...spent hard time in jail."
- "...giving little attention to the nuanced distinction..."
- "...stain against the idea of..."
- Etc.
This section is written as if it is a defence of other fraternities in the area, as opposed to being a section of an encyclopedia. --205.124.38.16 (talk) 15:49, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
- I agree with you, needs to be made more neutral. I think the entire first paragraph can be deleted, with the information on time sentenced moved elsewhere.Naraht (talk) 15:55, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
