Removal of POV issues without any sources
[edit]I removed the section discussing the Pakistani Replica because it had no sources describing this replica. It seems that someone's opinions have influenced paraphrased statements of the mini replica being a poor copy with little workmanship & an indicator of decline of Islamic Art. If we can get some solid sources on this (might be doubtful since this is extremely subjective) we can discuss adding it using appropriate language

Removal of misleading text
[edit]In the controversy section, it currently states " Its extremely close proximity to the Charminar monument has been a cause of concern for Indian Courts, The Archeological Survey of India as well as UNESCO." bu the source given says "Though the temple authorities removed the scaffolding following a request from the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) after a visit by a UNESCO team on November 2, they re-erected the structure a day later, much to the chagrin of the local residents". In my opinion, it doesn't say UNESCO team is concerned as such. If nobody gives proper source, I will remove/update said sentence.
-Adi (talk) 00:35, 12 November 2012 (UTC) Aditya
- i guess you can remove UNESCO then....but not the entire sentence....the ASI is concerned because the temple is one of the prime reason - being an encroachment that it Charminar cant become UNESCO world heritage site.....and the courts - the SC in its generalview about how monuments should be protected and not encroached..and the Andhra Pradesh HC in its maintainin of status quo...all seem concerned....so u cn remove the UNESCO but not the others...not the sentence.--Pranav (talk) 16:27, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
Removal of Mosque Infobox template
[edit]advice to remove mosque infobox template, --Omer123hussain (talk) 06:05, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
Yes, someone needs to add a historic site template instead; While Charminar was historically used as a mosque, it's role as a historic site is far more important than as a mosque. --Hadescurve (talk) 14:03, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

Reason for not adding Telugu text
[edit]Hi
May i know the reason why Telugu text is not written in the page..and it is told it has to be discussed in the discussion board before changing.. do let me know..
thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanjaykar (talk • contribs) 19:45, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
- Because it serves no purpose: see WP:INDICSCRIPT. In the past we have had cases of people trying to add multiple languages (such as Hindi, because it is Centre's official language, or Urdu, because it's the language of the Muslims who are majority in that area, or Persian because that was the court language of the Qutb Shah dynasty). Instead of making intro difficult to read, we use IPA for pronunciation. We have a Telugu Wikipedia if you want to contribute in that language. utcursch | talk 15:41, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Old image of Charminar
[edit]Does any one have a public domain image of Charminar before 1969 that shows a clear view of the base where the temple structure is now located? Someone has uploaded File:Charminar100.jpg, but as pointed out by Ratnakar.kulkarni (talk · contribs), there is no proof that this is the same view (it could be other side). Also, the image is not free, so it's probably going to be deleted. utcursch | talk 15:41, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Old picture of charminar
[edit]Dear all,
Please note the picture of Charminar100 added by me and it is not from other side of charminar if you are a local resident of charminar you would not say that. As if you see the way of Gulzar houz Kaman it clears that there was no temple infront of charminar in 1970's and for your information this picture is taken by Ajanta press in hyderabad.
and i am requesting to wikipedia add correct information about the charminar.
Regards,
Syed

Temple issue on charminar page
[edit]Admin,
There is a wikipedia page under the name of Bhagyalakshmi temple so why the details of temple is added under charminar wikipedia page i think it should be removed . and whenever i am editing it it goes back to old article which has no base or reference.
Requesting you to please don't edit the page again.
Regards, Syed --Hoodedemperor (talk) 14:01, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Summary style -- a small section is still relevant to this article, but the details are covered in a separate article. Your content was removed because it was copyright violation from other websites, besides being non-neutral in tone. As for your image, it's not a free image -- please see Commons:Licensing. utcursch | talk 18:41, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- I've reduced the length of the content. Can you please stop removing the section again and again from IP addresses and while logged in? So far the reasons that you've provided are invalid:
- This is not relevant to the article - please see your talk page and some newspaper headlines [1][2][3][4]
- This will cause communal violence[5] - First of all, this section in the article hasn't caused communal violence; rather, the communal violence first caused someone (not me) to add this section to the article. Also, see WP:NOTCENSORED.
- Also, please stop using IP addresses to do the section blanking - a CheckUser will get you blocked. utcursch | talk 14:27, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks very much now its quite fine.--Hoodedemperor (talk) 14:47, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
The temple is an integral part of the structure and has existed forever so removing a small section on it is ignoring it and therefore not ethical. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.213.79.212 (talk) 22:24, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
you can site this article and associated pictures: should be in the public domain(see below)
http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Hyderabad/a-note-on-the-charminar-photograph/article4119747.ece
as the terms of use on the hindu website make it usable on social media for non-commercial reasons provided they are cited and that the content is not used in a non-misleading manner. http://www.thehindu.com/navigation/?type=static&page=termsofuse 75.49.251.113 (talk) 12:16, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Request
[edit]The article had lost its citation style and authenticity, please stop personal views while editing and try to develop the article with neutral point of view.
- Please cite sources from reliable books, though newspapers are reliable sources, but article about structure can be sourced from reliable books, survey reports journals etc, Which are more authentic. Regards :) --Omer123hussain (talk) 22:42, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Working to edit the article with major changes in history and cititation style. Regards :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 10:58, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- Need advice from some established editors; I feel there should be a desambiguation page for other uses of Charminar; Charminar Cigarette, Charminar (Assembly constituency), Charminar Express, Char Kaman Etc..., Regards :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 01:00, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
Qutb Shah
[edit]The link in the article leads to a Qutb Shah who lived in the Herat area in the 10th century--not the Qutb Shah associated with the construction of Charminar. Could someone who knows more about this repair this link? 01:19, 19 September 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.74.212.68 (talk)

[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Charminar. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}

Improper/misleading reference
[edit]The article in the structure part details about the ingredients used to make the charminar (The structure is made of granite, limestone, mortar, and pulverised marble, weighing approximately 14,000 tones apiece.) In this statement the reference provided is 22(https://m.timesofindia.com/city/hyderabad/Is-it-Charminars-425th-birthday-today/articleshow/54752076.cms).
I checked the reference and there is no mention of ingredients used in making the charminar. Only the 14000 tones apiece info is mentioned. Kindly provide the reference which list the ingredients of charminar (building material) or remove the misleading sentence. Mfmirza93 (talk) 06:39, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
