Charles "Buddy" Rogers → ? – This current title has quote marks, which should be omitted. Should the article be "Buddy Rogers", "Charles Rogers (actor)", or using a birth name? George Ho (talk) 07:19, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'd say either Charles Edward Rogers or Charles Rogers (actor), the latter which redirects to this article.--Paul McDonald (talk) 13:11, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- Not sure I agree with Paul McDonald. I'd go with "Buddy Rogers (actor)" per WP:COMMONNAME. – Michael (talk) 03:51, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
- Support Buddy Rogers (actor), per Michael. --BDD (talk) 17:42, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved. Discussion has been open for 10 days and consenus is clear that the proposed title is preferable to the previous one as it satisfies the criteria laid out in our guidelines for article titles.(non-admin closure) Calidum T|C 23:21, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
Buddy Rogers (actor) → Charles "Buddy" Rogers – Now I regret having the title changed at my previous request. It should be reverted back to previous title. The following books and articles still use the proposed title (and current name). Also, WP:NATURAL and WP:TITLEFORMAT would allow this, even when quotes are normally discouraged. - Oppose. Against standard Wikipedia style. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:46, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
- Support. Charles "Buddy" Rogers is, indeed, this actor's most frequent on-screen billing, and he is thus listed in most reference books, film encyclopedias and film websites including Internet Movie Database (IMDb), Turner Classic Movies (TCM), American Film Institute (AFI), AllMovie and TVGuide. His star upon Palm Springs Walk of Stars is inscribed Charles "Buddy" Rogers. Finally, the inscription on his tombstone is Charles "Buddy" Rogers —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 04:06, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- Support - I'm a big one on conformity and following guidelines, so Necrothesp's point is very well taken. That said, I think regarding those guidelines, this is a perfect example of WP:IAR. That being said, there are other significant guidelines which argue in favor of the change. While it breaks some very established guidelines, this individual is clearly better known by the use of the nickname in quotes being used. Per WP:COMMONNAME, "Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers to use the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources." Onel5969 TT me 12:49, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- Umm... no, Onel. It is an example of policy WP:GUIDES, not IAR. Guidelines reflect consensus, but, if common sense applies, we can make exceptions. George Ho (talk) 21:20, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
