ChadhaibholChadheibhol – This is the original spelling of the village name. Khaatir (talk) 00:49, 21 October 2022 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). Steel1943 (talk) 12:50, 21 October 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 22:00, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Khaatir and Ahecht: Courtesy ping to inform editors this has moved a full discussion. Steel1943 (talk) 12:51, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, the spelling that is common in the region is being discussed, there are also some reliable references, the links of which I am sharing below. Also someone from the village had requested to change it from Chadhaibhol to Chadheibhol.

  1. www.onefivenine.com also has a page about the village titled Chadheibhol.
  2. [1]
  3. This article published in Times of India also has the same name of the village, which is common in the village. Khaatir (talk) 13:41, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request for revision of my former page move request

[edit]

@Amakuru, @Steel1943 If "Chadhaibhol" is written on Google Books, not a single result comes; while typing "Chadheibhol", it returns eighteen results, mostly with census's books.

When I requested a name change on a page related to Chadheibhol, a page mover, User:Ahecht, gave this reason also:

"A Google search for Chadheibhol only returns 799 results, whereas Chadhaibhol returns 3,060 results."

This reason does not seem reasonable to me at all! If anything is written on Google, it comes with many results, be it related to the wanted object or not, and I will give such references, which are written in the census document for the Indian state of Odisha. Also, when relying on online census websites, there are many typos.

More reliable than what is typed on the internet should be the books published in 1964, 1965, 1972, 1976, 1977, 1980, and 2011 and available on Google Books. (Books' links are attached with numbers for the years.)

When it comes to displaying online content from the Internet, I will offer four references: (1) on timesofindia.indiatimes.com; (2) on Kalingatv.com; (3) on schools.org.in; and (4) on housing.com.

I think more trust should be placed in reliable sources than numbers, although they are few. Khaatir (talk) 02:05, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In the first discussion of this, I did not put the problem very logically; now I put it a little more clearly. I hope friends will pay attention. Khaatir (talk) 03:24, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
NH 49, which passes through our village, has our village signboard (spelling can also be seen).
  • Comment: There has been a formal move-request discussing, participated in by several editors, and closed by an uninvolved editor, so it is not something for which Ahecht should be solely blamed. When we search, we search across. My search results on Google are way better for "Chadheibhol", than for ""Chadhaibhol" - even though it might not be a spelling used by census. I get equal hits for both the spellings however suggestions exist for how the name is spelled locally. I'd support a move, I feel. ─ The Aafī (talk) 02:47, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Often times, Google search results are geography-and-region-centred. Chadheibhol satisfies WP:COMMONNAME, given what I see. ─ The Aafī (talk) 02:51, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
