Merge the Articles About the Cayubaba Culture then Expand

[edit]

Aside from expanding the article by adding accurate information about the Cayubaba people, how about we also merge the article about their language at the same time. Anonymy365248 (talk) 13:28, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. Individual language articles are notable in their own right, as well as containing information more suitable for an article on a language, and the article about the ethnic group is rather short anyway. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 01:16, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think an article about the ethnic group being short counts as "notable in their own right". To me, it's not notable and needs expansion. Also, an article being rather short is not okay and will never be. So, we either expand the article by adding accurate information or merge it to another related article. We have rules about articles being notable: WP:Notability.- Altenmann >talk 20:51, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What happens if we consider this article and the language as not notable for being a separate article? Anonymy365248 (talk) 04:21, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. We always have separate articles about languages and ethnicities. - Altenmann >talk 20:51, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I object with that, because I've seen pages about several articles about the ethnic group and their language being in one page with my own eyes, like the Yamasee people. So, not all articles about the ethicity and the language are separate. Anonymy365248 (talk) 04:06, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
One of the reasons we keep separate pages for people and language because in Wikipedias in foreingn languages often the pages are different, such as in Spanish: es:Idioma cayubaba and es:Cayubabas, and therefore it is convenient to keep article structire the same wor all Wikipedias, for convenient navigation between languages. - Altenmann >talk 05:16, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, I updated the Cayubaba language page because it contained wrong data taken from Ethnologue, and suddenly I see that Cayubaba people article has no content. So I just redirected it. I think later the page may be split. - Altenmann >talk 05:11, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
