Is Brigantia the one that the Celtic mythology link "Britannia" should be linked to? ---G.T.N. (talk) 21:15, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- Is that link still out there somewhere, and: no, hopefully not. Trigaranus (talk) 22:30, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Statue identification
[edit]I've come to find a large part of image identifications given in modern publications somewhat on the tottery side. What reason is there to attribute the statue on this page to Brigantia? Is there an inscription or an attribute otherwise allowing for an identification? Sorry to be a pain, but there are so many books (even otherwise quite serious ones) around attributing names to ancient images more or less randomly. Trigaranus (talk) 22:34, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Footnotes?
[edit]Would it be bad manners if I converted the inline references to footnotes, perhaps using {{sfnp}}? We currently have both inline citations and footnotes, and personally I hate the inline clutter (just my opinion, obviously). Q·L·1968 ☿ 16:19, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hearing no objection, I've implemented the change. There is value in using a consistent style in the article, I think. Q·L·1968 ☿ 03:49, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Brigantia is erroneously equated here with Brigandu. Even a vague statue of so-called Brigandu in Rennes is used as Brigantia's title picture. Use instead this image of Dea Brigantia from the national museum of Scotland: https://www.nms.ac.uk/explore-our-collections/collection-search-results/sculpture-figure/141383. This is the only verified icon of Brigantia remaining to us (there is an inscription on the bottom stating Brigantia).
There are eight inscriptions relating to Brigantia worldwide. All are found in Britain. Brigandu is known from just one inscription in Gaul. They are not the same deity. This article correctly distinguishes between Brigantia and Brigit of Ireland but does not Brigantia and Brigandu of Gaul. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vestigium2 (talk • contribs) 11:17, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
