What is his real name?
[edit]I'm finding all sorts of variants: William Bradley Roland, Brad R. Will, Bradley Roland Wheyler, and other combinations of the same. Had he changed it or used a different name when travelling? [1] [2] [3] Alcarillo 16:32, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Bradley Roland Will [4]
- I see. I will edit the paragraph. Alcarillo 22:05, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- The NYC IMC article was an early press release that got the name wrong. NYC IMC has since confirmed: Bradley Roland Will, but we just use Brad Will in most of our material. [Chris Anderson, NYC IMC]
Biographical info needed
[edit]The tributes and news items surrounding Will's death are fine, but this article could really use some actual biographical data, especially about his work. Let's not turn this into a death page. Alcarillo 16:19, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
I started a stub page for it, worth looking into and expanding. Alcarillo 00:07, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
External links
[edit]I removed this from the external links section: [5] that Tibetibet posted. The description "Press freedom groups condemn Will's Killing"provided isn't accurate. The link is for a straight-up news bulletin about the killing with links to other press freedom sites, not a statement of condemnation. There are plenty of other news-related links already. If someone does find such a statement, from IFEX or other organizations, by all means include it. Better still, don't just paste a link -- write something about it and add it to the reaction section. Thanks. Alcarillo 14:20, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Chicago Tribune obituary
[edit]There's been an obituary in the Chicago Tribune if anyone has time to add the extra information. Registration is required but you can also read it at http://www.infoshop.org/inews/article.php?story=20061104102149491 Ad Nauseam 06:09, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Great, thanks for this. Can anyone direct me to an easier way to put references. They've gotten awfully complicated on Wikipedia. Alcarillo 00:58, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Alcarillo - i suggest you stick a link to Wikipedia:Citation templates on your user page, and maybe copy/paste the ones you use most often in nowiki format on your user page. That way, you can copy/paste them. It might sound complicated, but in the long term the present style of referencing should create some very powerful ways of organising/checking/seeing patterns in information and sources of information in the wikipedia. See e.g. semantic web. There's also the useful aspects of (1) not having to remember what order in the article things get cited in, (2) using <ref name="whatever" /> if the same source is used several times. Here are two i use frequently:
- web article: <ref name="chooseauniquename">{{cite web | last = | first = | authorlink = | coauthors = | title = | work = | publisher = | date = | url = | format = | doi = | accessdate = }}</ref>
- news article: <ref name="chooseauniquename">{{cite news | last = | first = | coauthors = | title = | work = | pages = | language = | publisher = | date = | url = | accessdate = }}</ref>
- Most of the parameters are optional - just leave them blank if you're not sure. Boud 17:15, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Registration is not required. I just accessed it without going through any such process, and as it is the original source – that is the proper linking.

Regarding visa issue
[edit]In the section about the shooting, User:200.56.249.230 posted information implying that Will's activities in Oaxaca were illegal in that he traveled there on a tourist visa. Here's the statement:
Will had traveled to Oaxaca in early October 2006 to document and film the teachers' strike illegaly under a tourist visa.
This isn't at all clear. Was it illegal for him to be there at all, or was it simply illegal that he traveled to Mexico under the pretext of tourism? Either way this information must to be verified with a proper source or else it has to be removed. Alcarillo 00:53, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- According to the U.S. Department of State, US citizens do not need a visa to enter Mexico for a stay of up to 30 days. [6] I will edit accordingly. Alcarillo 16:17, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- (much love b.w.) ANON 6/3/07
- Regarding Will's visa status, the following sentence appears in the text: "Will had arrived in Oaxaca in early October 2006 in order to document and film the teachers' strike, knowing that because he was traveling under a tourist visa, he was violating Mexican law.[3][4][5][6]" I was unable to find the story referenced in [4]. However, I do not see where in any of the other three references appears support for the assertions in the sentence, namely that Will was in violation of Mexican law and that Will did this knowingly. The sentence as is may be true, but it is not properly referenced.Mwswanton 05:39, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've modified this section to make it conform to the existing sources. If anyone can find a source for Will's breaking the law (read: a single source, not multiple sources synthesized), please feel free to restore the removed elements. Until then, the claim is original research. - N1h1l 13:06, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Missing years
[edit]The recently added paragraph re the explosion outside the Mexican Consulate in New York City is properly dated 2007 -- which makes the preceding text seem quite misleading. Somebody needs to go through and insert the YEAR "2006" throughout the article -- everywhere it was left out when originally written. Cgingold 02:19, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Btmural067indybay2.jpg
[edit]Image:Btmural067indybay2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Justice
[edit]Was anyone tried or convicted for his killing? Badagnani (talk) 05:35, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Fairly recent information says that Mexican justice authorities have accused APPO members of having shot Will from close range, despite eyewitness evidence to the contrary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.156.43.8 (talk) 18:58, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
