disambiguating Vatican - question

[edit]

Does the first sentence of this article mean that Contarini was fighting with Vatican (Papal States) forces against Turkey, or that Contarini was sharing authority over his forces with the Vatican (Holy See)?. If anyone knows, please correct the link for me!! ~ VELEDAN TALKCTRB' 16:37, 13 August 2005 (UTC) disambiguation link repair (You can help!)[reply]

I assume that they were separate forces, but that Contarini had overall control. There would've been 1 overall commander. I could check if you want, or if you have access to the source book... -SpookyMulder 13:30, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
