Citation for Native Name

[edit]

A new resource just published the accurate Muscogee name for Atlanta: Pvkvn-Huere “Standing peachtree." The blog in question, https://decolonialatlas.wordpress.com/turtle-island-decolonized/ , was rejected, but is highly researched from primary sources, tribal language departments, which are cited within the page. As there is little published material on Indigenous place names in North America that is accurate and spelled in modern orthographies, this is currently the most accurate source on the topic. The only Google results for "Pvkvn-Huere" are this blog, which cites Muscogee linguist Jack Martin, author of the Muscogee Dictionary. "FISHERCAT5751 (talk) 18:46, 14 October 2023 (UTC)"[reply]

Missing refs

[edit]

@Patapsco913: looks like you've introduced a couple of cite errors while trying to add census numbers. I'd fix them, but don't know what they're meant to refer to. -- Fyrael (talk) 17:45, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Interactive map borders about 7 years out of date

[edit]

Hello, I'm not familiar with the templates used to draw the interactive city boundaries, but from what I could deduce it appears that the shape file is pulled from OpenStreetsMap? Is this accurate?

Could anyone advise on what the next steps would be to update this shape file, since it is around 7 years out of date at this point.

Basically, the steps are:
  1. Open an account at openstreetmaps.org and login.
  2. Find the map that shows the boundaries (I'm guessing this is it).
  3. There, either redraw the boundaries (not easy) or ask someone there to update it.
