Contesting speedy deletion
[edit]Please let me know what to edit, to make this page Wiki friendly. The Arc supports my brother who has Down syndrome. But I can remove anything or add anything suggested to make it more nuetral and more informative.—Preceding unsigned comment added by TsunadeHokage (talk • contribs)
- I am not the one that tagged this article for speedy deletion, but let me shed some light on why the article is considered for deletion. The article does not assert the notability of this organization, let alone its importance. It just says, the Arc exists. What kind of "very real" situation has the Arc already addressed? Did that effort make it into the independent papers, magazines, or TV coverage? All American citizens are IRS verified tax payers with very real lives, but we don't have articles for all of them on Wikipedia do we? Please consider building up the article with more notable and verifiable information.--Emana (Talk) 23:19, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- In answer to what you need to do... Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. As it stands, the article is not an encyclopedia article, but rather reads like an advocacy website, complete with material copied directly from the organisation website which is a copyright violation. Please read WP:FIRST to get more information about writing your first article. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 02:19, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
No bullet points
[edit]This is an encyclopedia, not a advertisement brochure. Please refrain from using bullet points in the main body of the article as it does not conform to Wikipedia's Manual of Style. I also have a feeling that if I open a brochure from one of the organizations listed in the links, I would find this content in full verbatim. Beware --Emana (Talk) 23:28, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed. Have a look at this page which is the source for the types of disability section. Verbatim. -- Whpq (talk) 00:54, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- These topics are now moot per my rewrite. Cunard (talk) 09:28, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Good save Cunard!! --Emana (Talk) 18:37, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
