Applecrab → Apple breeding programs – I think that people don't recognize the subject of this article by the its current name. If we rename it to the suggested name it will draw a lot of attention since the subject will be clear, and will include the importance in commercially cultivated apple that reaches everyone's table. I further suggest to include here Surprise (apple) which is only used in breeding programs. Riversid (talk) 16:32, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- Comment isn't this only about breeding apples with crabapples, and not any other sort of apple breeding? The proposed title would seem to be too broad to describe the topic of the article, as it is not about every type of apple breeding -- 65.94.40.137 (talk) 05:53, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- Response. Right. But I don't see any reason why apple-crabapple breeding should be segregated from usual apple breeding. Especially since modern breeders would usually breed together several apples "and" crabapples into one cultivar, in order to be resistant to the most diseases possible and still have good fruit. See Enterprise (apple) for example.Riversid (talk) 18:35, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose. This is a good topic and the right name for it. If there's material on other apple breeding programs, then this belongs in a new article. Andrewa (talk) 14:16, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

[edit]To me, an "applecrab" is a arthropod -- Metasesarma aubryi -- and not a fruit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.95.43.253 (talk) 19:26, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
