Greetings fellow Wikipedians! In my humble opinion the former text was overly harsh and judgmental, using the terms "hijacked" and "outraged" to describe what seems to be a minor controversy in the ivied halls of academe. I re-wrote the text and moved it from the introduction to a separate "Controversy" section, which I believe better places it in context.
