His correct birthday
[edit]I'm positive 1982 is his correct birthday. All other sources i went to say 1982, IMDB and WP are the only sites that have it at 1984. IMDB has it wrong. Just doing a simple google search for "alan ritchson's birthday" and youll have a bunch sites show up that have it at 1982. This just goes to show, even thought WP is a lot better than it used to be, there are still plenty of inaccuracies. Besides, the 1984 one is unreferenced anyway. Confirmation of birth year
[edit]Alan Ritchson was 39 years old as of his appearance on the Inside of You podcast released on 8th of February 2022 ([1]), making his his birth year 1982. Phranky (talk) 21:11, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed. IMDb and the Google knowledge graph currently have 1984, which is wrong. Also confirmed by UPI. gobonobo + c 21:50, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
But there are other sources for 1984, e.g. [1], [2], [3]... So, is it possible to confirm a single date as correct? Kacir 07:35, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Sorry, I just listened to the conversation in the link. Kacir 07:49, 22 February 2022 (UTC)- Hi @Kacir - I know this over a year late, but although we know that many notable people have lied about their age, I've always wondered if the 1984 birth year was an assumption on the fact that he was listed as being 20 years old when he first appeared on American Idol in 2004. During an interview with iHollywoodTV, Ritchson talks about appearing on American Idol's third season in 2004 and when they play a clip of him, it states that he's "[AGE:]20".[4]
- Going by what the Wiki page here states, and other sources on how the show is filmed months before airing, auditions were held in August/September 2003, and the season aired months later in early 2004. Therefore, he was 20 (and a few months shy of turning 21 on November 28, 2003). It would also align with him graduating in 2001 and nothing indicates he skipped a grade(s).Clear Looking Glass (talk) 03:53, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the good analysis of sources. Note is the correct approach. The question is which of the two dates to put in the note? Of course, the best would be a reliable source stating the date of birth directly. @Gobonobo: Kacir 12:45, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
