Afshar and its demographics

[edit]

Most of the sources claim that Afshar district was dominated by Hazaras during the Afshar massacre. 1 If User:Inuit18 claims that Afshar is a Qizilbash district, then reliable and up-to date sources (not 100 years old) should be provided. (Ketabtoon (talk) 19:27, 25 November 2009 (UTC))[reply]

The following site 1 has been used as a source. I request the user to quote the passage with its English translation for those users who do not understand Dari. Still, a single source is not enough in this case, because there are other sources which claim that Afshar's residence are ethnic Hazaras. (Ketabtoon (talk) 22:32, 25 November 2009 (UTC))[reply]
  • "The mutual antipathies of the two sides were well-founded as Tajik forces had killed about 1,000 Hazara women and children in a massacre in the west Kabul district of Afshar, a predominantly Hazara area, during the mujahideen rule in 1993." Source
  • "The bloody events of the Afshar district and western Kabul in the mid-1990s in which the Supervisory Council and Jamiat Party militias rampaged through the Hazara inhabited area - murdering, raping and burning homes - are well documented in Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch reports." Source
  • "In February 1993 Afshar, a predominantly Hazara district and a stronghold of Hizb-e Wahdat..." Source

are few of the links which clearly states that Afshar is a predominantly Hazara district. (Ketabtoon (talk) 22:46, 25 November 2009 (UTC))[reply]

The current source clearly states Afshar is a Qizilbash district with a Hazara minority living there.--Inuit18 (talk) 23:37, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

3 much more reliable and foreign sources have been provided. Most of the sources claim that it is a Hazara dominated region. Any doubts, you are welcome to bring a third person neutral point of view. (Ketabtoon (talk) 02:26, 9 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]
Here are few other sources which support claims that Afshar is Hazara dominated [1], [2], [3], [4] and many more. (Ketabtoon (talk) 02:38, 9 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]

→ From Wikipedia:Third opinion: The BBC source only suggests the demographics, but some of the other sources provided by Ketabtoon both reliable and unambiguous. The junbesh.net source does not appear to be focused on demographics; I am working from a machine-translated copy, so I may be misreading it. Unless another discussion (potentially at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard) indicates otherwise, it would appear correct to describe the demographics of this region as primarily Hazara. I did not find any source giving a better breakdown of the population, though this may change with the 2010 census. Also, this article should probably link to Afshar Operation. - 2/0 (cont.) 07:19, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First of all thank you for taking your time by coming here and giving a neutral opinion. As you can see, majority of the sources (almost all the sources) claim that Afshar is a Hazara dominated region of Kabul. Junbesh.com is the only source which mentions that it is a Qizilbash dominated region. Undue weight - "generally, the views of tiny minorities should not be included at all.".
