Iwa
[edit]I think the image I found is the only Iwa picture available. Should you feel the need to remove it or know the copyright (it needs it to stay active), please do so. Jake52
- Is that allowed? Hurricanehink (talk) 01:52, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- That's what I would like to know. The page it came from says the picture was taken before the satellite relay was destroyed by Iwa, but doesn't mention who has the copyright and if there even is a copyright. Jake52
- I wonder if it qualifies as fair use. It is the only image of Iwa on the web, and it helps readers understand the storm better with its broad wind field. Hurricanehink (talk) 02:01, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Solved. NOAA's CLASS archive covers 1978-current, so used the NOAA 7 image from the Hawaiian pass. Thegreatdr 20:51, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Bad news, the link to the NOAA CLASS archive is down. Storm05 13:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Todo
[edit]Added several more storms to the page. Thegreatdr 22:04, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Great job! All that's needed for B class is inline sourcing for the whole article. Hurricanehink (talk) 17:08, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Check out the Hurricane Paul (1982) article and restate to me why it needs more citations to become B class. That article has...um... no citations (or refereces) and the season article has 3...so far. Thegreatdr 19:14, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks User:Nilfanion for the additional refs. I've fixed some of them to fit where I got the information from originally. Thegreatdr 19:44, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- No problem on the additions. Part of the reason for the grading discrepancy between those articles is that seasonal articles are different in content to storm articles and part of it is different editors who take part in assessments have differing views. The things remaining to do here are more organization, images and wikilinking. For example, the dates should be written August 31 not August 31st as per WP:MOSDATE (to allow users date preferences to work).--Nilfanion (talk) 19:48, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- The dates have been changed and wikilinked. Thegreatdr 22:49, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- About Paul, standards change, but FWIW I added inline sources there. Hurricanehink (talk) 00:18, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Tropical Depressions
[edit]Although I am aware that an article's talk page is intended solely for the improvement of the article, I have this question that I have been trying to find the answer to, on and off, for the past few months and that is really bugging me at this point: where do you guys get your info from for the East Pacific depressions prior to 1988 that never reached storm strength? Ev-Man 20:03, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Click here, then under "anywhere in article" type the year you want and Pacific. Then, choose search, and click on something like "1982 Pacific hurricane season". There should be info of the depressions there. Hurricanehink (talk) 20:15, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! Ev-Man 22:51, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- Do you have any idea why there is no article on the 1987 Eastern Pacific Season in the database? There is one for every other year from 1968 to 2004. I did a chronological order search with "hurricane" under "anywhere in article" and "Pacific" under "title." It seems to me that this should include every article serving as an Eastern Pacific season summary, but there is no 1987 article between the 1986 and 1988 articles, or for that matter anywhere else in the list of 361 articles returned. It's fine if you don't have an answer; it's not as if I need the information. I just thought it curious that such a recent year would be missing. Ev-Man 03:16, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Huh, that is very weird indeed. I'm not sure why it isn't there, though I wonder if it has to do with the fact that the Eastern Pacific Hurricane Center had its last year in 1987. One would expect them to write it; however the National Hurricane Center took responsibility of the basin in 1988. Maybe a report simply wasn't issued that year. Hurricanehink (talk) 03:25, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, although I can't see how that is a good excuse for not writing the report, I think you may be right. That feels like more than a coincidence to me. Ev-Man 02:33, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
