[edit]

The intro has no useful information. There are two sections on the Fort Lauderdale storm. There are no inline references. Jdorje 02:12, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also there were 9 storms this season, but only 8 are mentioned. Jdorje 02:57, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just added information on the ninth storm to the article. CapeVerdeWave 20:14, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Five was probably a fishspinner-since its the last storm-shall we add it?HurricaneCraze32 19:53, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It needs at least a brief description of TS 5 to be a start.--Nilfanion (talk) 22:25, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More detail...--Nilfanion (talk) 01:04, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of Man and Surge

[edit]

I found a picture of a man and a huge wave headed towards him in a book that comes from the NOAA historic hurricane collection that occurred during Hurricane 8 or Hurricane "King". Does it have any place here or should it be put on a separate article? 68.51.41.46 (talk) 06:55, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added a couple names

[edit]

The Air Weather Service (AWS) named tropical cyclones from the phonetic alphabet at least as early as 1947. For now, I've only included the two names which were easily accessible via internet, but there is a text source for all the names used. Thegreatdr (talk) 14:46, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Mention 1947 USD somewhere
  • The United States death toll of 53 was comparatively low compared to 20 years earlier - semi-redundant. Find a better way of writing it.
  • A tropical depression developed about 125 mi (200 km) north-northwest of Barranquilla, Colombia, early on August 9. - is that exact town needed?
  • Additionally, the city was left without electricity for about five hours. - it took me a few moments to realize you were talking about Tampico
  • You need to cite somewhere that Dog-Easy had two names
  • "Further north" - if it's distance, do "farther" always
  • A tropical wave developed into a tropical depression about 175 mi (280 km) east-southeast of Dakar, Senegal, early on September 4. - east-southeast? Map looks like west of Senegal
  • A tropical wave developed into a tropical storm over western Jamaica on September 20. - map looks like it's north of the island
  • A twister in Jacksonville crossed through the neighborhoods of Murray Park, Norwood, and Panama Park, damaging roofs, trees, and electrical and power lines. Another tornado in Jacksonville, caused similar impacts. In Arlington (which was later annexed by Jacksonville), a twister moved a home off its foundation, damaged roofs, and downed trees. - merge these three sentences
  • A tropical low was detected off the coast of Nicaragua on October 8. - difference between low and depression?
  • The storm strengthened over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico to attain hurricane status on October 11, and after brushing the Florida Keys before making landfall near Cape Sable, Florida, on October 12 with winds of 90 mph (140 km/h) and a central pressure of about 975 mbar (28.79 inHg). - split
  • You don't mention H9's dissipation
  • The storm, designated as "Love" in real time by the Air Weather Service - how come you don't do this for other storms? Just curious
  • The storm continued northeast and became extratropical on October 22. - you mention this later, so this can be cut
  • You need to cite that Able and Jig were extratropical/"probably extratropical"

All in all, a good season article. This shouldn't be hard to fix up. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:26, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
