[edit]It needs at least a one sentence description of every storm to be a start.--Nilfanion (talk) 22:32, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
A hurricane at Tampico in early August?
[edit]This newspaper has a screaming headline about a boat that went missing in the Gulf after a hurricane struck Tampico, Mexico. It was published August 6, 1942. The first storm in HURDAT from this season formed on August 17. It appears this season has a missing storm. -- HurricaneERIC - Class of '08: XVII Maius MMVIII 23:44, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- See if you can find any other supporting information. I'll alert the reanalysis police, in case this is new to them. Just FYI, there is a December 1938 system which sounds like a TS in the east-central Atlantic. This December TC/ST activity we've seen since 1984 likely isn't something new. Thegreatdr (talk) 18:50, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- I received a response which indicates they are aware of that system. The reanalysis has gone through 1942, preliminarily, and thus far considers the system a tropical storm which impacted northeast Mexico around the date of that newspaper article. Since nothing has been formally published, or even informally been presented at any conference regarding the reanalysis in 1942, you're going to have to go by the newspaper articles you find for the wikipedia article until the reanalysis reaches 1942. At the rate they've been going lately, that could be another 4 years. See what else you can find for the article in the meantime for its improvement. =) Thegreatdr (talk) 21:39, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

- Ref for 1934 bit?
- I'm gonna go with something else. How about it was one of seven seasons to feature multiple hurricane landfalls in Texas?--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- A total of 11 tropical depressions from 1943 are listed in the Atlantic hurricane database, with two additional tropical depressions. - this is confusing
- I meant to say tropical storms--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- In November, the Belize hurricane caused extensive impact in several coastal communities of Belize. - redundant saying Belize hurricane and Belize. It wasn't known as that anyway until 4 decades later :P
- Better?--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- TS 1
- reintensify further just feels wrong
- Fixed--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- Text and infobox don't match regarding top winds
- Infobox is correct--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- A lack of available weather ships in the region due to World War II, no ships documented the tropical cyclone. - grammar? Missing word?
- Fixed--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- In Texas, the tropical cyclone caused light rainfall, damaging local cotton crops, and strong gusts in the Rio Grande Valley. - poor symmetry of words
- Better?--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- H2
- The hurricane initially weakened quickly after moving inland. - no need for initially and quickly
- Fixed--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- H3 - mention where it dissipated (New Mexico IIRC). Also, fix the conversion for the rainfall. You have inch (m), but it is (mm) elsewhere.
- Fixed--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- H4
- The third storm of the season
- Fixed--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- Shortly thereafter, while the storm passed about 90 mi (140 km) east of Bermuda – its closest approach to the island – the cyclone peaked with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph (175 km/h).[4] The hurricane produced sustained winds of 64 mph (103 km/h) on the island. - find a better way to split this info between the two sentences
- Better?--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- TS 6 - Analysis by the Hurricane Research Division - no other section mentions this, so it feels out of place.
- Fixed--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- TS 7 - Several hours later, the system began to move northwestward. - did you mean NE?
- No. That northeastward part is the ET stage. But actually the "northwestward" movement was more like north-northwestward.--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- Other systems - The depression moved rapidly northwestward toward Louisiana, but transitioned into an extratropical cyclone by the following day. - I don't understand the but here.
- Fixed--12george1 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
A decent article overall, shouldn't be hard to improve. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 01:26, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
