[edit]I wrote this article and I couldn't find much information. But it is a very important article because many sources (even within wikipedia) probably still call this an earthquake and say it killed 300,000 people! Jdorje 07:05, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
- True. Here are some things that could be mentioned, but don't have to.
1) Was the deadliest tropical cyclone in recorded history 2) Another cyclone hit Calcutta in 1864 that killed 60,000 3) Based on low-lying land, the North Indian Ocean is more vulnerable to tropical cyclones. 4) Climatology: Many other deadly North Indian cyclones hit land during October due to the end of the monsoon season. Not sure if that would help, but it something that could be mentioned, if needed. Hurricanehink 01:39, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Uhh...well...(1) no it wasn't (2) true, though that one's hardly mentioned anywhere (it used to have a section in the Calcutta article, but that was cut), (3) yes, the ganges delta from Calcutta to Chittagong is very vulnerable (4) interesting...though others seem to happen really early; the 1970 one was in april IIRC.
