The result of the move request was: no consensus. The discussion did not result in a clear consensus as to whether "Čretež pri Ledini" was an accurate name for the settlement. (closed by non-admin page mover) ModernDayTrilobite (talkcontribs) 15:12, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ČreteČretež pri Ledini – Last official name per Uradni list LRS, year IX, num. 2 (p. 16). As this is the last name of the settlement before it was merged it's also easier to navigate through (later) co-joined settlements. Oppose: "Čretež pri Ledini" (if accurate) should be mentioned in the article, but based on maps and modern publications the current name of the place is simply Črete. Also, it's doubtful that the place was ever named Čretež (with a ž); this appears to simply be a sloppy error in Uradni list LRS (which was also copied in some later works). What we should discuss is either sticking to offical names (or the last one) or local toponyms. It's clear that locals would rarely say "I'm from Črete pri Ledini" but rather "I'm from Črete". I don't think there's a clear preceding consensus on what to do in such examples where a local, simplified variations largely dominates over the official naming. I've worked the material into the name section. The problem regarding Cretež → Cretež pri Ledini (as the source has it) is that 1) if the source is not accurate, then it shouldn't be cited at face value in the article, and 2) if the source is accurate, then it applies to a settlement originally called Cretež (i.e., not this settlement) and shouldn't be cited in the article at all. In any case, the decision in the source applies to settlements, and Črete lost the status of a settlement in 1955 and has simply been known as Črete ever since.
