The Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church (Serbian: Свети архијерејски синод Српске православне цркве, romanized: Sveti arhijerejski sinod Srpske pravoslavne crkve) serves by Church constitution as the executive body of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The Holy Synod consists of five members: four bishops and the Patriarch who serves as the chairman.[1][2]

[edit]Notes
[edit]- ^ Officially known as the Archdiocese of Belgrade and Karlovci, encompassing only the Belgrade area. The title "of Karlovci" is in reference to old Serb church jurisdictions seated in the town (the Metropolitanate of Karlovci and the Patriarchate of Karlovci). This eparchy (diocese) is headed by the Serbian Patriarch.
