• 1965 - Hurricane Betsy made landfall in southeast Louisiana as a Category 3 hurricane, flooding much of New Orleans. Betsy caused over $1 billion of damages.
• 1985 - Hurricane Rick (pictured) becomes a Category 4 major hurricane with winds of 230 km/h (145 mph) and a pressure of 951 hPa.
• 2015 - Tropical Storm Etau makes landfall in Honshu bringing extreme flooding with damages nearly up to $100 million.
