- 1966 - Hurricane Inez made landfall in southern Hispaniola shortly after attaining peak intensity. Inez killed over 1,000 people.
- 2008 - Subtropcial Storm Laura (pictured) develops from an extratropical cyclone to the west of Azores. Laura was classified as a tropical storm thereafter.
