- In 3442 (320 BCE), Alexander the Great retreated from attacking Jerusalem after seeing Shimon Hatzadik.
- In 5505 (1744 CE), Austrian forces massacred many Jews in Prague.
- In 5678 (1917 CE), Finland granted the Jews equal rights.
- In 5705 (1944 CE), over a thousand Jews were rescued from the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp through the efforts of Rudolf Kastner. Since the Satmar Rebbe Yoel Teitelbaum was among the rescued, Satmar hasidim celebrate 21 Kislev as a holiday.
