List of people executed in the United States in 2024

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of people executed in the United States in 2024. To date, twenty-one people, all male, have been executed in the United States in 2024, two by nitrogen hypoxia and nineteen by lethal injection.[1] The first person executed in 2024, Kenneth Eugene Smith, became the first person in the United States and in the world to be executed by nitrogen hypoxia.[2]

Two states saw their first executions in over a decade. Utah saw its first execution since 2010 in August.[3][4] South Carolina carried out its first execution since 2011 in September.[5] If carried out, Indiana's upcoming execution would be its first in over a decade.[6] September 2024 also saw the greatest number of inmates executed within a one-week span since July 2003.[7]
