General remark and tones
[edit]- Our IPA transcriptions of foreign languages should be (more or less broad) phonetic and therefore enclosed in square brackets rather than phonemic and between slashes.
- Currently several of the tones are represented by alternative tone letters. This help page should guide users to definite symbols and prevent random choices.
- The tone spelled -h is currently transcribed as mid level [˧], indistinguishable from the tone with unmarked spelling. Shouldn't it be falling from mid to extra-low [˧˩] as in article Iu Mien language? Love —LiliCharlie (talk) 07:08, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
