Haas Factory Team is an American professional stock car racing team that will compete in the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The team is owned by Haas Automation founder Gene Haas. It is the third iteration of the team, which debuted in 2002 as Haas CNC Racing, added Tony Stewart as a partner from 2009 to 2024 as Stewart–Haas Racing, and after the splitting of the partnership, will continue solo with Gene Haas for the 2025 season.[1]
The team is based and headquartered in Kannapolis, North Carolina – roughly 10 miles (16 km) north of Charlotte Motor Speedway – alongside sister team and Formula One entrant Haas F1 Team, though the two teams are separate entities. The team will remain in the same shop as was the case prior to the divestiture of Tony Stewart from the team at the end of 2024.[2]
History
[edit]On May 28, 2024, it was announced that Stewart–Haas Racing, the 2009 partnership of Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, would be ending at the end of the 2024 season. At the time there were four Cup and two Xfinity teams.[3][4][5] Three weeks later, Gene Haas announced the team will continue with him as solo owner, keeping one Cup charter and keeping both Xfinity Series teams with the name Haas Factory Team, with Joe Custer as the team president. The team will continue to run Ford Mustangs with a technical alliance with RFK Racing.[6] The team has provided chassis and technical support for AM Racing in the Xfinity Series under the previous partnership, and will continue in 2025.[7]
