Feedback on draft 1/11/24

[edit]

@FraVitaLIUC, SailingVespucci, LIUC27Marlene, LIUCbargigia6, and LIUCKristi25:

  • overlinking (hectares, village, nature park). See: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking
  • structure: the first written mention of the village belongs in History section
  • Needs an Infobox: find a relevant Infobox template from Wikipedia:List of infoboxes and Template:Infobox settlement, and use this templare correctly, or find a similar page with a relevant Infobox, and use this. Note that these are templates with rules on how they are used and for acceptable field content/format
  • It needs to be clear how this draft relates to the existing poor page on the municipality: Mülbach. One option is to make this draft on both the municipality and the settlement, including municipal and town information. A similar example is at Pihtipudas, which is a page on both. In this case, content from the existing page (rated as Stub-class (Talk:Mülbach) can be used and developed by merging it with this draft. See Wikipedia:Merging. Note and carefully follow the correct process for this.

Limelightangel (talk) 14:38, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I already dealed with the first two points of feedback, but we still have to figure out an Infobox and how we want to include the existing page. LIUC27Marlene (talk) 18:38, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Structure of the draft page

[edit]

This part of the talk page can be all about talking about the structure of the draft. Feel free to talk about all your ideas and edits concerning the structure of the draft here! LIUC27Marlene (talk) 16:13, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

References in general

[edit]

This part of the talk part can be all about references. Please use this section to talk about problems due to references, ideas and questions! LIUC27Marlene (talk) 16:14, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reference 6 has an error message, can someone help me with that please. I don´t have an idea. LIUC27Marlene (talk) 16:54, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Merging with another existing page

[edit]

This part of the talk page is all about dealing with how to include the other wikipedia page Mülbach. To merge the two pages there is a precise method that can be found here. We propably can directly merge the pages without open a discussion. LIUC27Marlene (talk) User:LIUCbargigia6 (talk) 16:15, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@LIUCbargigia6 Please update the talk page when you have news about the merging process, thank you. LIUC27Marlene (talk) 16:40, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i'm merging the two pages right now LIUCbargigia6 (talk) 16:43, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay perfect, maybe we should inform the other page also on its talk page, but I´m not quite sure. LIUC27Marlene (talk) 16:45, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Limelightangel@LIUC27Marlene@FraVitaLIUC@LIUCKristi25@SailingVespucci,
I just merged the Mülbach to this page. LIUCbargigia6 (talk) 16:49, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! @LIUCbargigia6 LIUC27Marlene (talk) 17:38, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the talk page was blank but i wrote also there that i merged that page in this one LIUCbargigia6 (talk) 19:12, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I undid the redirect from the current article to this draft. Redirects "from mainspace to other spaces" are not allowed: only actual articles can be in mainspace, and drafts are by definition not ready to be live articles. If this draft (or some other draft) should become the actual article, admins and others can easily move it there. That would also automatically preserve the old edits in the history there, so no need for the "merged to" talkpage note. DMacks (talk) 06:24, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DMacks: Thanks for helping to resolve this.Limelightangel (talk) 09:25, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help! LIUC27Marlene (talk) 18:22, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! Let me know if I can be of further assistance. DMacks (talk) 00:34, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback on draft 13/11/24

[edit]

@FraVitaLIUC, SailingVespucci, LIUC27Marlene, LIUCbargigia6, and LIUCKristi25:

  • sources:
  • style: avoid personal, promotional, subjective and biased vocabulary. See [Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Vocabulary]] and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch e.g. 'you can see'; 'Mülbach finds itself '; 'easily reachable from the town' (twice); 'Furthermore,'; 'precisely'; 'the romantic river '; 'great diversity'; 'for example,'; 'safe haven'; 'offers a day out for families and groups'; 'Experience wildlife up close with'; 'spacious enclosures'; 'engaging dog shows'; 'for guests to meet'; 'it prevents a lot of fun for children.'; 'as well as'; etc.
  • linking: See Help:Linking
    • do not link out from the text to external websites e.g. to the South Eifel Nature Park.
    • do not duplicate links out
    • link out on the first occurence of the linked term: Eifel Mountains and South Eifel Nature Park should be introduced and linked under Geography, not late under Climate (where they can still be mentioned without links)
  • duplicate content e.g. on Nierbach stream
  • grammar: 'It exists a privately owned chapel in Mülbach.'; 'it prevents a lot of fun for children.'; etc.
  • remove 'More demographics data: '
  • the page needs the following page elements. Understand the differences between these sections and types of links used. See how it is done on other pages:
  • Images:
    • needs acceptable and relevant images to support the relevant text sections
    • Infobox needs an image
    • needs a map of the municipality showing boundary, and text relating it to neighbouring municipalities
  • key data can be tabulated if available e.g. on climate, population, etc.
  • the demographic data exhibits need formating and including in the relevant section, with captions and sources
  • needs more content:
    • there are sources via Scholar, Google Books, etc. The challenge is getting information on the correct Mühlbach.
    • As an example via Scholar, see: [[2]] - the article contains 2 facts: a local species of mushroom and the existence of an old mine.
    • try searching on Mühlbach + archaeology on Scholar, etc.
    • consider contacting the municipality and/or local library for better content sources
    • many countries collect data/stats. by municipality, which could provide useful data and content
    • given the focus is now on the municipality, content needs to include both the municipality and the village itself
    • a clear map of the municipal boundary may help to see what is relevant to this area e.g. history, archaeology, etc.

Limelightangel (talk) 10:10, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

thanks, so for example is it okay how i added the Malberg Castle external link? even if it is in german?(there's no english wiki page) thanks SailingVespucci (talk) 10:55, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I dealt with the following feedback points today:
  • Added a new English source
  • Removed the sentence „more demographic data“
  • Made a tabulation about climate
  • Formatted the demographic data
LIUC27Marlene (talk) 21:16, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Today I dealt with this feedback:
  • Changed subjective words and sentences
  • Removed double information on the Niersbach stream
  • Dealed a bit with linking
  • I wrote an email to the municipality Mülbach after I called with one of them
  • Added a see also section
LIUC27Marlene (talk) 16:52, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to fix all the inappropriate words on some of the paragraphs with the correct ones.
Now I'm dealing with the wrong bold words and the formats of meters and heights. FraVitaLIUC (talk) 15:37, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I corrected the bold words and the unites of measurement.
I used the entire "meters" or "kilometers" words globalizing them with all the page. FraVitaLIUC (talk) 15:46, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I sent an Email to the South Eifel Nature Park site to achive some related images of the Geography and Tourist attractions near the town. Just waiting for them to reply. FraVitaLIUC (talk) 15:49, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you LIUC27Marlene (talk) 17:15, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I added the external link section and the category section. LIUC27Marlene (talk) 17:15, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic addition

[edit]

In User:217.21.147.238's additions today,[3] two websites are cited. Neither site actually exists at this time. The editor claims to have accessed both sites themself two days ago. Neither one is in the Wayback Machine archive either. That is a problem under the verifiability policy for Wikipedia content, and also an academic problem if the instructor wishes to verify that the student is using sources properly. I often see this sort of thing happen when editors use ChatGPT or other LLM systems rather than reading references themselves and then writing content themselves, and is why those systems are not allowed. But I have no idea specifically what happened here this time. I'll refrain from removing the content right away, while students double-check what they wrote. DMacks (talk) 15:10, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Dmacks, for pointing this out. The sources were indeed generated using AI, which led to unverifiable citations. I've removed them to ensure the content meets Wikipedia’s standards. Appreciate your help in maintaining the article’s integrity! LIUCKristi25 (talk) 17:18, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback on draft 20/11/24

[edit]

@FraVitaLIUC, SailingVespucci, LIUC27Marlene, LIUCbargigia6, and LIUCKristi25:

  • Content relevance:
    • Politics: some irrelevant content
    • 'Public spaces, roads, and areas': irrelevant
    • 'In the neighbouring municipality of Baustert is the church of St. Maximin, which belongs to the South Eifel parish of St. Matthias': If it is not in the municipality it needs to be removed or relevance to the page made clear
    • 'Extensive ruins from Roman times can be found in the Tempelhof area.': If it is not in the municipality it needs to be removed. If it is it needs to say more
    • Malberg Gastle: the relevance to the page on this municipality is unclear. If it is not in the municipality it needs to be removed. If it is it needs to state where. Grammar: 'in german'
    • Eifelpark Gondorf: the relevance to the page on this municipality is unclear. If it is not in the municipality it all needs to be removed. If it is it needs to state where, and remove the promotional detail
    • Wolsfeld mountain race: the relevance to the page on this municipality is unclear. If it is not in the municipality it all needs to be removed. If it is it needs to state where, the style corrected and irrelevant detail removed
    • Rhineland-Palatinate: needs removing (there is an existing page for this) or better relating specifically to the page topic.
    • Basic services and commerce:
      • needs rewriting or removing. Issues with relevance, source and style.
      • Some of this information could be relocated to a better section on location, merged with the existing poorly titled section and written section on Geography.
      • basic facts on roads, distances and neighbouring settlements should come in an earlier section.
  • the Infobox for Wolsfelder AvD Bergrennen should be removed
  • population pie charts: better as a table
  • images:
    • 'Photo of a part of the municipality' needs relocation and a better caption. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Captions
    • needs relevant images on the topic located in appropriate sections
  • See Also's include duplicate links from the article and irrelevant See Also's. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout#"See_also"_section
  • External links:
    • the single link here does not work
    • the relevance of this link is unclear to both the topic and as an External link
    • needs more. See similar pages and Help:External links
  • references:
    • rewrite 'according to the State Statistical Office (as of December 31, 2018). ' with a proper reference style
    • 4 paragraphs in 3 subsections have no sources
    • references 3, 7, 15 are incorrect
    • reference 6 is unacceptable. See Wikipedia:Interviews and Wikipedia:No original research
    • needs more English sources
  • linking issues:See Help:Linking and Wikipedia:Linking dos and don'ts
    • over-linking issues
    • duplicate links
  • Municipial council membership details need a date
  • structure:
    • the overall structure needs reviewing. Look at good examples of similar pages. As an example: Lead, Location (with subsections on Climate, Geography and perhaps land use), Population (with subsections on Demographics and Culture), History, Attractions (if there are any), etc. See, for example, Pihtipudas, although several other options are available.
    • the Geography section includes information that should be in Climate
    • duplicate content e.g. 'The village of Mülbach is located along the eponymous Mülbach stream' vs. 'A stream running through the village is called ‘Mühlbach’ vs 'crossed by two streams, one affluent of the other, that are the Hiseler Bach and the Mülbach.'; 'The village covers an area of 155 hectares' vs. 'Mülbach’s total area is 155 hectares'; etc.
    • as the page topic in the municipality, the section on 'Municipality' does not make sense and content on Municipal council is located under Politics
    • 'A village renewal concept has been in place since 1992' needs moving from location to perhaps recent history sub-section
    • the content on buildins use is well dated and better located in a recent history sub-section of History
  • style:
    • there are fundamental issues with style in th3e Tourism section and most or all of the content here is irrelevant
    • 'Over the past 30 years,': use more precise dates
    • 'Issues with terms: However,'; 'It can be observed here'; 'well advanced'; 'There are currently'; etc.

Limelightangel (talk) 18:21, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
