Van Calebs is an Ghanaian-born dancer, choreographer and promoter.[2] He is the first Ghanaian to introduce styles like Jazz and contemporary African cultural chorography form of dance and also the first to use advance technology to create Visual effect of contemporary cultural choreographer.[3][4][5][6]
He originated 'Base' a solo dance currently pictured in prints as Monument pieces for tourists in Ghana.[7][8]
Early life and education
[edit]Van Calebs studied classical ballet for several years before becoming a choreographer. He is an alumna of Wisconsin International University College, Silicon Valley International School and further studied at Adisadel College.[9][10]
Career
[edit]He is the founder of Van Calebs Walking Stick Foundation which is a non-profit organization set up to undertake philanthropic projects and Van Caleb empire, an African cultural dance promoter. He is also the volta regional coordinator for Asian African Chamber of Commerce.[11][9][12]
He originated "illuminate" dance by Sarkodie (rapper) a Ghanaian rapper and "Rock body" used by Wiyaala an afro-pop singer.[3][13]
Van has received several awards including for working for women's causes and the Spotlight Creative Arts and Business Awards.[14][15][16]
He trains dancers around the Africa including non-Africans on contemporary culture choreography dances through Van Calebs empire choreography center.[10][17][18]
He is an advocate of Breast cancer and the importance of screening their breasts and has created more than 40 pieces of choreography, many of which he performed himself.[19][20][21]
