Submission declined on 1 August 2024 by TipsyElephant (talk). This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject. This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by TipsyElephant 3 months ago. |

Therapuss with Jake Shane is a podcast hosted by American influencer Jake Shane. The video-audio podcast has weekly guest appearances[2] on Wednesdays, and occasionally a second on on other days. Jake opens the podcast alone, or sometimes with close friends to introduce each day's topic.[3]
Overview
[edit]Jake originally started the podcast inspired by his Instagram story series, where he asked his followers, or he likes to call "pussies",[4] to submit "Tell Me What's Wrong' where he gave advice to his followers.[2] The name is a play on therapists and octopi, as he grew social media popularity partly from his octopus reviews[5][6], with his TikTok username being @octopusslover8.[7] Jake has his own merch line for the podcast on his website, featuring some illustrations of octopi. In the podcast, Jake shares about his struggles with OCD and anxiety[8] , his personal life, and his love of octopus.[9] Jake also explains more about his mental health, and tells about recent experiences with working with it. In the podcast, Jake always is accompanied by octopus stuffed animals, like Pussandra, a Jellycat plush. Some notable guests of the podcast include Tate McRae[10], Tana Mongeau[11], Reneé Rapp[3], Ed Sheeran[12], and Charli XCX[13].
Format
[edit]The podcast is loosely inspired by a therapist session, following some stereotypes of therapists like a timer of when the session stops.[14] In the podcast, Jake introduces the episode alone, or sometimes with close friends to introduce each day's topic.[15] Jake then transitions into him with a guest, asking them what they are mad about and asks some things about their day to day life. Like his Instagram story series, Jake reads out "Tell Me What's Wrong" cards later on in the episodes. He and a guest give advice to the submitter usually in the form of a song, movie, TV show, or just general advice. Jake and his guest will chat about their what the guest is currently up to, and their recent projects if applicable.[16]
Tour
[edit]On March 7, 2024 Jake Shane announced the first live show of Therapuss with Jake Shane on May 1, 2024, at the Irvine Improv, a comedy club in California.[17] The show included a live version of the "Tell Me What's Wrong" submissions, in which you could scan a QR code to send a submission in which he would give advice live.[11] Jake recently announced the Therapuss Live tour on July 17, 2024 with tour dates in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and Atlanta in theaters and music halls. The shows have average capacities at around 1,000 people per date.
