Play It by Ear[1] is a musical improv television show hosted by Mano Agapion on SVOD service Dropout. The show is a spin-off of Dropout's Game Changer's episode Original Cast Recording.[2]
Play It by Ear premiered on September 13, 2022 with a 5-episode season and season two, with 11 episodes, aired in 2023.[3]
Format
[edit]Each episode Jess McKenna and Zach Reino with one to two guest performers improvise a musical based on Mano Agapion's prompts. The performers are accompanied by a band with altering players. The episodes begin by introducing the performers and giving the subject and name of the musical. As the show moves forward Agapion gives directions on either incorporating a phrase or a style for a song.
