Binod Ghoshal (Hindi: বিনোদ ঘোষাল; born 28 February 1976) is an Indian writer who won the Yuva Puraskar Award in 2011.[1]
Early life
[edit]Binod Ghoshal was born in Navagram village panchayat area at Konnagar in Hooghly district of West Bengal. His father was a writer who wrote literary works.[2]
literary work
[edit]Short stories, novels, features, plays, film criticism are his writings. The first story written by Vinod Ghosal in Desh Patrika was published in 2003.[3] The story has a special response among the readers. Since then he started writing regularly.[4] His first novel Madhrasta Akhla was published in 2013.[5] Several of his short stories have been dramatized on stage and on radio. A film has been made based on his novel. His short stories have been translated into several languages. His long novel Ke Bajaye Banshi, based on the entire life of Kazi Nazrul Islam, is recognized as a significant work.[6][7][8]
Awards
[edit]Ghoshal received the Central Yuva Puraskar in 2011 for his book Danaola Manoos.[9] In 2014 he new story 25[10][11] West Bengal received the Somen Chand Smriti Award of Bangla Academy for the book.[12] He has also been honored with Purva Bharat Award, Mitra and Ghosh Memorial Award, Bijan Bhattacharya Memorial Award, Shailjananda Award. Received 'Best Literary 2020 from Hon'ble Governor on behalf of Sunday Times Kolkata. Bengali writers have participated as representatives in many national and international literary festivals of the country.[13] In 2016, he joined the 'Writers in Residence Programme' at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the invitation of the Hon'ble President of India. Received fellowship from Ministry of Culture, India.
