This is a maintenance category, used for maintenance of the Wikipedia project. It is not part of the encyclopedia and contains non-article pages, or groups articles by status rather than subject. Do not include this category in content categories.

These language lists were initially compiled to ensure coverage of the various languages of the world, as well as the synonyms under which they are commonly found. Lists indexed below under "*" still need work to convert red links to blue. Any remaining red links in the other lists have been difficult to identify, or (as in the case of Ruhlen and Voegelin for South America) not notable enough to include.
