The 1866 Kansas gubernatorial election was held on 6 November 1866 in order to elect the Governor of Kansas. Incumbent Republican Governor of Kansas Samuel J. Crawford defeated Democratic nominee J. L. McDowell.[1]
General election
[edit]On election day, 6 November 1866, Republican nominee Samuel J. Crawford won re-election by a margin of 11,219 votes against his opponent Democratic nominee J. L. McDowell, thereby retaining Republican control over the office of Governor. Crawford was sworn in for his second term on 11 January 1867.[2]
