Synthesis
[edit]Dissolving yttrium oxide in perchloric acid solution can produce yttrium perchlorate octahydrate.[citation needed]

Physical properties
[edit]The compound is soluble in water and forms a hexahydrate with the formula Y(ClO
4)
3•6H
