Article titles that might need changing

[edit]

I'm not sure that some the article titles (as provided by the Shire and so as initially created as sub-pages of Wikipedia:WikiTown/Toodyaypedia/Stage 3) are the most appropriate. Details in subsections below. Mitch Ames (talk) 06:06, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

First Toodyay Convict Hiring Depot and Pensioner Guard Barracks

[edit]

Do we need the word "First" in the article title? Was there more than one? Mitch Ames (talk) 06:06, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there were two Toodyay Convict Hiring Depots - On August 4, 1851 "Old" Toodyay properties Lot 69 and Lot R1 were purchased for use as a Convict Hiring Depot. In early 1852 a different site - Avon Location 110, Crown Land two miles upstream was selected for the site of the new Toodyay Convict Hiring Depot. In 1857 Lot 69 and Lot R1 were sold to John Davidson for 160 pounds. Ref: Pages 128 & 129 The History of the Toodyay Convict Depot by Alison Cromb 2010. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elrebe56 (talkcontribs) 07:39, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've kept the article title when moving it to article space, but see Talk:First Toodyay Convict Hiring Depot and Pensioner Guard Barracks § Article name.
While search for article from which to link First Toodyay Convict Hiring Depot and Pensioner Guard Barracks, I've come across several mentions of the second depot. A separate article for that 2nd depot would be nice, if someone knowledgable was inclined to write one. An alternative would be to expand and rename the existing one to cover both, but restructuring might be required to adequately address the EPG Barracks. Toodyay Lock-up (Gaol)

[edit]

Do we need the word "Gaol" in the title? What is the "official" name? Mitch Ames (talk) 06:06, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Renamed to Toodyay Gaol, per e-mail from Alison Cromb, 2017-07-09. Mitch Ames (talk) 12:20, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Toodyay Valley Government School

[edit]

Does the official name include "Government", or should we rename the article to "Toodyay Valley School"? Mitch Ames (talk) 06:06, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Toodyay Valley Catholic Church and School

[edit]

Should the article title be "Catholic Church of Sancta Maria and Toodyay Valley Catholic School" to match the official name of the church? Mitch Ames (talk) 06:06, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Renamed to Church of Sancta Maria, Toodyay to match what appears to be the official name of the building. Mitch Ames (talk) 12:25, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Attribution

[edit]

The original text was written by Alison Cromb (for the Shire of Toodyay), who has requested and is entitled to appropriate attribution. For now, I've included "This article incorporates text by Alison Cromb" under References in each article, but a template may be more appropriate. We used {{CC-notice|cc=by25au}} for Robyn Taylor in Stage 2, but I don't know if that is correct here. @Gnangarra: could you advise on what the correct attribution is.
