Social wasps
[edit]Social wasps are important and increasingly well studied. We are starting this project and hope to have the Vespidae scientific community dig in and help!Agelaia (talk) 22:33, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
List of wasp articles for work
[edit]Here is a list of wasps our systematics guru, Jim Carpenter, wants to see done and why:
- Agelaia vicina (what's not to like about nests with a million or more wasps?)
- Apoica flavissima (looks spectacular on the nest)
- Asteloeca ujelhyii (strange-looking wasps and nests)
- Brachygastra scutellaris (nests are beautifully "painted")
- Chartergus globiventris (lovely small nests - Richards was dead wrong about species of this genus)
- Epipona quadrituberculata (horns on the petiole)
- Leipomeles dorsata (both wasps and nests are beautiful)
- Metapolybia bromelicola (for nesting in a bromeliad)
- Mischocyttarus punctatus (weird nests)
- Nectarinella championi (ant guards a palisade of paper posts with droplets on top)
- Polistes crinitus (maybe the most attractively marked Polistes; name based on a mistake)
- Polybia rejecta (takes the cake for sheer attitude)
- Protopolybia chartergoides (nest envelopes are like clear wax paper)
- Protopolybia scutellaris (just for the sake of the petiole winglets)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
[edit]Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Potential copyright problems with Wasp images
[edit]Hello waspies! I'm not involved with the class or this project, but I've been reviewing a lot of new Vespid articles, and some of the images seem to be of questionable fair-use status: images scanned from books that do not explicitly allow commercial-reuse of images may be problematic- and anything licensed "CC-BY-NC" (nc=non-commercial) can generally not be uploaded to WikiCommons, since media on commons can be re-used by anyone, for any use, including commercial. For example, Female_P._nigricans_serrei or P_alternata_female. both have questionable licenses. See Commons:Licensing for more details. There are a number of sources for CC licensed images, including all content published by ZooKeys and the PLOS series of journals, and some of the images published by Zootaxa. Cheers! --Animalparty-- (talk) 19:27, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Request made for statistics pertaining to WikiProject Vespidae
[edit]I have placed a request here for summary table statistics for WikiProject Vespidae. FYI, AshLin (talk) 08:21, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- The instructions were here. By group action, we're done & we now have statistics! Yippee! AshLin (talk) 05:15, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
[edit]Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Hi! I am Gug01. I am not part of the WikiProject yet but am thinking to join, in part to create articles of all Polistes species. I request that the article Polistes crinitus is cleanup up. I already fixed part of the taxobox (Hexapoda isn't a class and you guys forgot to add Insecta), but please fix the whole thing. Also, what is this talk about a "species group"? Please reply on my talk page if possible. (If not, please reply here.)Gug01 (talk) 20:26, 15 January 2015 (UTC) Gug 01
Proposed merge with WikiProject Insects/Hymenoptera task force
[edit]I've created a main page for the Hymenoptera task force since this group and WikiProject Apidae seemed inactive. I believe it would be beneficial to have all Hymenoptera in one place, as a task force rather than its own WikiProject due to the relatively small number of editors. If there are any objections, please state them below. M. A. Broussard (talk) 08:15, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
[edit]Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:25, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
