Rudford and Highleadon

[edit]

Would someone mind taking a look at Rudford and Highleadon and assessing it? It's a newly created single-source stub, but might still meet WP:NPLACE. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:52, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly meets WP:NPLACE as it is verifiably a legally recognised place, a civil parish. I've added a 2nd ref, to its parish council. PamD 22:25, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you PamD. Would you mind also taking a quick look at Warmley Rural District, Tetbury Rural District, Stroud Rural District, Sodbury Rural District, Northleach Rural District, Newent Rural District, Cirencester Rural District and Cheltenham Rural District if you have the time? -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:36, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Marchjuly Sorry, I'm not interested enough in former rural districts or Gloucestershire to work on them all, but Warmley needs, at least:
  • bolded title in lead
  • Geog context in lead (ie "Gloucestershire, England")
  • proper ref rather than bare URL for "The English Non-metropolitan Districts (Definition) Order 1972"
  • better ref for the Vision of Britain source, with access-date too
  • coords
  • Short description
  • talk page with Gloucestershire Wikiproject banner
  • Remove unnecessary "The" at start of lead (I think, not 100% certain of usage)
  • And preferably a bit of content describing what area it covered, with a link to connect it to Warmley.
It might be worth asking on the talk page of that Gloucestershire wikiproject whether someone might care to upgrade them? PamD 23:07, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, articles must be in categories, I've added some. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:16, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you PamD and Redrose64. I've added a {{Please see}} for this discussion to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Gloucestershire. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:16, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon

[edit]

Hello WikiProject United Kingdom:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!

Task-force conversion proposal

[edit]

The American, Canadian, Australian, and Japanese music industries all have their own task forces within their respective WikiProjects (with Latin music its own project entirely). Combine that with the defunct status of WP:WikiProject Music of the United Kingdom, and this leaves the door open for a revival as a more manageable task force. Anyone up for the task? (Symphony No. 2 in E minor, a recent WP:AFC graduate, brought me here.) --Slgrandson (How's my egg-throwing coleslaw?) 02:20, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The above category, Category:Political parties of minorities in United Kingdom, was created in recent months. And populated with, to my understanding at least, more than a few UK-based political parties that do not appear to be parties which represent minority groups. Along with a few other editors, I have reverted some of these changes - as neither the text nor the references of the articles appear to support the classifications. Or refer to the subjects as parties which represent minority groups. As would be expected by WP:CATV and WP:CATDEF. Including, for example, removing the category from the articles on the Northern Independence Party, Scottish Family Party, Scottish Senior Citizens Unity Party, Women's Equality Party, etc. Or the classification, without explanation or support, the Liverpool Catholic Party and the Liverpool Protestant Party as both being representative of minority groups. Contributors to this WikiProject, who are perhaps more familiar with political parties in the UK (including, perhaps, conventions on groups representing "national minorities" in the UK), might wish to review some of the other entries in that category. Including, perhaps, the classification of the "Highland Land League" as an example of "Political parties of minorities in United Kingdom". Such classification seemingly being based entirely on the basis that "Gaelic speakers were a minority and still are". (Attempts to engage the involved editor, to explain or perhaps even reconsider some of these classifications, haven't been entirely fruitful. Hence the suggestion that members of this WikiProject perhaps, impartially and with more knowledge than I, consider taking a look...). If I've overstepped and, for example, there is justification or sources such that Women or feminists Scottish pensioners should be considered minority groups in the UK, please do feel free to revert my own changes....
