Featured pictures
[edit]Should be able to align pictures with their 50th anniversary. The dates I am using are from the file image page; those will need modified to be in UTC.
As an aside, Armstrong had the camera which is why all the photographs are of Aldrin

- This is currently the subject of a delist and replace for a different version of the file. Which is good, as D&Rs open up a new run for the new image on the main page Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 6.6% of all FPs 02:07, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

A couple I am surprised are not here; I will go hunting for them and see what their status is. Kees08 (Talk) 23:55, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- How about: File:Margaret_Hamilton_-_restoration.jpg? It's due for the main page, and she did write the software for Apollo. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 6.6% of all FPs 02:07, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- my comment below notwithstanding, that is certainly a good point. We have to have Hamilton somewhere on this project. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 02:40, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
Mary Jackson
[edit]To go with Margaret Hamilton and Katherine Johnson (FPs, waiting for the main page (unlike the bootprint, which really should be ineligible as it's run once, unless I'm missing something), the lead image for Mary Jackson is very good, and could easily be brought to FP status. - (ec) @Adam Cuerden: I have a picture in mind to feature on July 21, I believe you voted for it. But there are other days available that week from July 16 thru July 24. My post at WPWIR calling for more women was for DYKs. I don't think we have room to feature more than one "computer" that week at FP. Can you instead suggest a photo or video of the launch of Apollo 11 that can be brought to FP? Maybe even a series of photos. That would be great for July 16. Here is the NASA database for photos and videos of the mission. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 02:31, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

- I was thinking of something along the lines of File:Apollo 11 Saturn V lifting off on July 16, 1969.jpg for July 16 or File:Apollo 11 Lunar Module Eagle in landing configuration in lunar orbit from the Command and Service Module Columbia.jpg for July 20. We already have a photo on the moon for July 21. I was looking for something on the way to the moon or splash down back on earth for July 24. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 03:20, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Ravenpuff, what if we used Apollo program as our article of choice for POTD. This photo does represent the culmination of the Apollo program's goals. Much of the content of this blurb is also contained in the Apollo program article and, according to this RfC, we are allowed to draw from sourced material from any article linked in the blurb. We would only have to change the first few sentences. Those sentences are already covered in the TFA blurbs for the astronauts. Especially, the Apollo 11 TFA blurb gives the dates and times. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 01:24, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Coffeeandcrumbs: I'm fine with it; you can make the necessary changes if required. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 01:31, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
